Birthday Card for Marti!

My dear friend of around 35 years will be celebrating  her birthday on Wednesday and this is the card I made for her.  I gave it to her a week early so that she could enjoy her birthday even longer!

The stunning "cut out" at the top is from a die in the Sue Wilson "Gemini Collection" called "Pavo" and I think it is beautiful!  The actual die was too large of fit my 5x7 portrait oriented card, so I scanned it and made me a cut out that would fit.  I used that same scan to make the cut out and inlay on the bottom of the white panel.  I used the "LTD Slip" font to make the "Happy Birthday Marti" sentiment and made a mat for it and used two layers of it for dimension.  I also used my glitter brush marker on it.  My dear friend, Peggy Dollar, gifted me a beautiful die set, just as I was working on this card....Marianne Design "Anja Vintage Swirls" and that is what I used to make the curly tendrils around the flowers.  Thank you so much, Peggy!!!  The flowers were made from a free cut file that I found at UK Scrappers years ago.  The gorgeous butterfly was made from an image that I found on Pinterest.  The image was VERY intricate, so I had to alter it to get it to cut.  I cut it out of black cardstock and made a mat to go underneath it out of a piece of Canson iridescent paper.  The sentiment and mat layers were cut using my Pazzles Vue and the white panel, butterfly and the flowers were cut using my Cameo!  Here are a couple of close-up photos.

For the inside I used die cuts from the Marianne die set again, but this time I inlaid them.  For the computer generated text, I used the "Frosting for Breakfast" font.

Now, let's talk about the "hinge" for this card.

I cannot remember where I saw this, but I know it was on one of the YouTube videos that I watched, where you cut two cards panels and score one of them at 1/2" and then glue them together at that 1/2" mark.  I love this idea because the card stands up so beautifully, plus for an A7 (5x7") card you can use 8.5x11" cardstock!!!

Thanks for stopping by and please hurry back.  By the way, Marti loved her card!!!

Birthday Card for 12 Year Old Girl!

My very sweet home health care nurse (from when I had cancer and then again after my open heart surgery) has the sweetest daughter who will be turning 12 tomorrow and I designed this card just for her!

Blue is her favorite color, so I used a few shades of blue and white and I made it a "shaker card".  The only die I used is a Memory Box die for the leaves.  I used the "2 Peas Mister Giggles" font for her name and for the sentiment and cut them both using my Cameo.  I made a cutting file from a butterfly image the I found online, designed a cut file for the flowers and designed the eyelet frame.  I used sequins as well as the negative cuts from the frame...all cut using my Cameo.  I used the "Frugal Crafters" technique for making the matching "faux enamel dots"...you can google her YouTube channel to see a video on how to make them!  The adorable little ladybug was made by me using red liquid pearls, a black sharpie and some black stickles.  Here are some close-up photos!

For the inside of the card I designed a border to match the frame and printed it on white cardstock and designed the text portion using the "Girls are Weird" and "2 Peas Mister Giggles" fonts.

This card was fun to design and I hope Destiny likes it!  Thanks for stopping by and hurry back!
