Janice! Everything on this card was done using my wonderful Silhouette Cameo. I designed the "Happy Birthday" border and the gorgeous centerpiece is a Silhouette America file. Here is a photo of the card front:

Birthday Card for my Daughter-in-Law.................

and my 1st card of 2012!!! Nicole's birthday is on the 12th and I really wanted to make something special for her. Last week I purchased a new DCWV stack called "French Country" and I fell in love with it so I decided I definitely wanted to use it for her card!!! This is what I came up with!

For the card front I made sure that I used the top left corner of one of the papers that I particularly liked and in order to do that, I had to make this a very large card, in fact a size A9 which is 8.5"x 5.5". I used a Silhouette Amercia "Happy Birthday" file that I altered by adding some flowers to it and designed a mat to go behind it. I also heat embossed the "Happy Birthday" three times and added some Swarovski crystals for some bling!

Here is an inside view. I designed a "pocket" in Silhouette Studio, to hold a note that I wrote to Nicole, along with some trim!

One of my dear online friends had a birthday on January 1st.........she was a New Years baby! This is the card I designed for her.....it was also her big 50! The "Birthday", "Scalloped Background" and the "Corners" on inside of card are Silhouette America files and everything was cut using my Silhouette Cameo! I designed the "50" and "Happy".

I LOVE using vinyl!!!

I bought these "tumblers" at Bed, Bath and Beyond about six months ago and I knew I wanted to use them with vinyl, but not sure exactly how and then I started seeing what peeps at the MTC Forum were doing with monograms and that settled it. I made these for my son and his wife as part of their Christmas this year!

Every week we get together with some of my husband's siblings to play cards and we all use wooden card holders....they come in so handy and I decided to put our names on them in vinyl. Here is a photo of three of them that I've done!

get a chance to upload during the holidays as everything was so hectic....as usual! Unfortunately, with everything that has been going on with my husband's health, as well as his daughter's, I was only able to design a couple of Christmas cards.

This is one that I designed for my good crafting friend that I served with on the Pazzles Design team. I used my new Silhouette Cameo to cut the snowflakes, flowers and birds, which I heat embossed. The lattice was done using my Martha Stewart "Garden Trellis" Deep Edge Punch. The "Metallic Loop" trim is by Simplicity, and purchased from Walmart.

The other card that I designed was for my oldest son Doug, who was unable to come visit during the holidays due to his job and he lives out of state. I can't remember now where I saw a card like this, but I love the design concept............as you place the gift card in the "package" that is in the sleigh! Sleigh and snowflakes are Silhouette cutting files cut with my Cameo!

This is a gift box made from a free cutting file from SVG cuts. I used pink mulberry paper to line the inside and the flower on top was made by me. This was for our youngest granddaughter, Jennifer.

This is another SVG Cuts free file, made for our oldest great granddaughter, Jodi. This was cut using my Cameo and the flower on top is by Recollections.

This little "purse box" was made for our three year old great granddaughter, Taylor Marie and I have to say that I had so much fun making this one. It was made from a Silhouette file, including the graphics on the back, cut with my Cameo and I used some "nail art" to decorate the flap!

I used my Cameo to do "print and cut" gift tags that I found online...I used "Crystal" Stickles to make them come to life!

Why, it's my brother-in-law John and we had a surprise birthday get together for him this afternoon! For his card, I decided to use a different card format and I'm not sure what it is called........but here it is!

Close-up view of my "Gone Fishing" print and cut image!

The little "Gone Fishing" image is one that I found online and turned it into an image that you first print and then you cut with a digital cutter....it's only a little over an 1 1/4 wide! I used my Silhouette Cameo which has an optical eye, so it makes "print and cut" VERY easy!!! I used my Pazzles Inspiration Studio Pro software to design the "Happy 80th Birthday John" and then used my Pazzles Inspiration Cutter to do all of the cutting with the exception of the "Gone Fishing" print and cut sign. I also have to confess that I did something that I rarely do...............I used some store bought birthday stickers that I had on hand!!!

and decided I would keep posting my test cuts here at my blog so that I can direct those that ask me what I'm able with it can see for themselves!

In this first photo, I've done several "print and cuts" as well as a couple of regular cuts and for all of them I have used Bazzill smooth white cardstock, which is my favorite and it cuts like butter!!!! The "frog", "flower", "pig" and "snowflake" are all Silhouette files. I designed the "Thank You" and my friend designed the medallion using the "Replicate" tool in the Silhouette Studio software. The "Poodle" is a digi stamp by Dani at printablecolouringpages.co.uk............isn't it adorable!!! Please not that the "snowflake" is only 1" in diameter....just look at those perfect, tiny circles!!!

OK, now on to "chipboard"...........except I prefer to use cereal and beer boxes because they cut so much better and seem to be less fibrous. I also like using poster board, which is a little thicker the Bazzill white cardstock I love! I will say that the cereal box is a tad thicker than the beer box. For the beer box I actually did 3 passes...one each with the ratchet blade set at 6, 7 & 8. I find that doing the cuts graduated in that manner, I get a cleaner cut. For the cereal box I did the same but set the blade to 7, 8 and 9. As you can see in my photo, the cuts are petty clean!!! At this point, I don't know if it dulled my blade or not!

All I can say, "peeps", is that I REALLY love my Cameo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See ya again soon!

and look at the wonderful cuts I'm getting with it! I was getting really great cuts with my old CraftROBO blades, but this is even better...if that's possible!!!

I just can't believe the perfection of that 1" snowflake cut.........the circles are absolutely perfect!!! Double click on the photo to see the snowflake up close! And at a setting of 4, the poster board cut just like butter!!!

I am one VERY "happy camper"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forget Me Not Box!

OK....so here is the project I was referring to in yesterday's post. I purchased the "Forget Me Not Box" as well as the "Forget Me Not Cut It Set" from Lettering Delights.........I thought they were all very pretty! When you download the files they come in several different formats......ai, dxf, eps, gsd, jpg, pdf and svg. I decided that I wanted to cut the box so that I would have a box on hand for an A2 size card to fit into...you know, one that is too thick for an envelope, plus I wanted to play some more with my Cameo!

Here's a side view and I do want to add that the border around the box is a Silhouette America file (Lace Border C00277_17986) and can be purchased in their store through the Silhouette Studio software for $.99.

Everything was cut using my Silhouette Cameo..........gosh I'm loving my "Sophie"!!!

Y'all, I am so excited! I received my Silhouette Cameo on Friday evening.....UPS always delivers out here last thing! Everything was in the package and may I add VERY nicely packaged, and it took me no time at all to have it up and running. During my playing over the weekend I discovered that my blade is defective..............but no problem as Silhouette America is sending me a new one and in the meantime I decided to use the blade system that I use with my CraftROBO (I named HER "Roberta") and it is working wonderfully........OMG I am so happy!!! By the way, the Customer Service at Silhouette America is great!!!! Oh and let me add that I named my Cameo "Sophie"....don't ask me why, it just popped into my head. By tomorrow I should have a little project ready to post, but in the meantime here are some of my cuttings that I made while playing with my new toy!!!! "Best Friends", "Chandelier", "Leaf Corner", "Flower Print & Cut" and the "Flower Medallion" are all files that you can purchase for $.99 a piece at the Silhouette America site and they are fabulous cutting files!

And here is a card that I made using a free cutting file by Tina Fitch and you can download the free SVG or GSD here! Tina is in the UK and she is SO talented...I just love her and her designs!!! I also want to point out that I used a "Silver" Pentel Slicci pen in the "Pen Tool" made by Sue Reynolds (aka/HotPaws) for the CraftROBO/Silhouette and it works great in the Cameo!!! You can find them at her site here and she has them for many different cutters! The good thing about her Pen Tool is that you can use a lot of different size pens and markers in it! The red and green on the card is done with Silhouette "Sketch Pens"......they came in a number different colors including metallic which I still want to purchase!

Isn't this absolutely adorable!!!! My dear friend Sue Reynolds (aka/HotPaws) designed this card and box in Adobe Illustrator and did what's called a "print and cut" using an electronic cutting machine. It is totally her original design....she drew it!!!!! Another thing that I really like about it, is that she printed it using her laser printer. Here is a view of the inside:

Wedding Shower Card for Cierra!!!

There was a wedding shower for my husband's great niece today and I made this card to place her gift card in and I have to add that I left the Target Card in the envelope they provided....BUT I made a bow tie out of a $5 bill and adhered it to the front and then that was placed in the envelope with this card! She loved it!

Everything was cut from Silhouette America cutting files except for the doves....they were a free file from Sabrina at the UK Scrappers site called "Birds with Doodles", and cut using my CraftROBO digital cutter.

I'm so excited to tell y'all that I have the new Silhouette Cameo on order!!! It cuts a full 12" in width! I've already cleaned off a space on my desk for "her" and decided to name her "Sophie"....my CraftROBO is named "Roberta"!

Flower & Leaf Stencil Card!

I used to keep a stash of all kinds of greeting cards made by me, but lately it seems like I never have a birthday card on hand! Hmmmm.....could it be because the majority of the cards I give are for birthdays? That must be it!!! At any rate, I decided I need to make some birthday cards to have on hand so that when I need one at the last minute, I don't have to break my neck to get one made. This "stencil" card was done using another digital cutting file by SylviaF at the UK Scrapper site........gosh I love her designs! Here is my take on her design (The recipient's name will be added to the bottom of the card front when I know who I'm sending the card to):

The dark green panel is a metallic card and I hope my photos do justice to it. I also want to add that the "pop-up" flower in the center was designed by me in my Pazzles Inspiration Pro software and I used my Pazzles Inspiration to cut the card base as well as the light green panel and then I used my CraftROBO to cut everything else except for the tiny butterflies. I discovered something really cool in making this card, I used black stickles on the dew drop in the flower center that I colored black with a Sharpie and also on the center of each of stencil flowers but I noticed that they did not shine like I desired so I decided to add some crystal stickles to make them shine more and to my surprise it turned them to a pretty green shade which was perfect for my card.....love surprises like that! Birthday Card for Renee

My husband's oldest daughter's birthday is on Thursday (29th) and I made this card for her!

Literally all of the credit for this beautiful design has to go to a very talented lady at the UK Scrapper's site, named Sylvia, as she created this gorgeous design to be cut on the the Craft Robo. You can find her GSD cutting file here (scroll down to #92) and it's free! If you are not registered at the UK site you will need to do so before down-loading the file and I think there may be a 30 day waiting period.....but trust me, it's really worth the wait, as these ladies are extremely talented!!! It's hard to believe that my little "Roberta" (Craft Robo) is actually able to cut such an intricate and delicate item! The "Happy Birthday" is a Silhouette file that can be purchased at the Silhouette site for $.99, the name of the file is "Happy Birthday Phase C00578_19210" and it was cut with the Craft Robo as well and then I used my VersaMark Watermark Inkpad, covered it with clear embossing power and heat set with my "Heat It" heat gun.....I did this twice. It gives it an epoxy look.

For the inside, I used the bottom mat of Sylvia's cutting file, along with another Silhouette file named "Flower Flourish_2448" which was also cut with my Craft Robo. All of the text was done using MS Word and my Canon printer. Here is a look at the inside.

Since this card is 5 1/2 inches square, I had to design an envelope for it and I wanted to be able to use a piece of black paper that I only have in 8.5 x 11" size............so I had to improvise! I designed the envelope file with an extra "flap" that attaches to the envelope's "back flap" and then I used some Martha Stewart punches to decorate the flaps. I think it turned out pretty good....what do you think?

I just had a few scary days!!!!!

On Tuesday my darling husband went to his Dr. at the VA to get the results of the blood work that he had had done a couple of weeks prior and when Dr. Houston listened to my husband's chest he told him that he was going to send him to another floor to be wired with a 24 hour heart monitor because he heard something he did not like. On Wednesday he went to have the monitor removed and I headed to a nearby (30 miles) town to do my weekly shopping and to go by the bank to deposit his retirement check. Right after I pulled into the parking lot at the Dollar Tree my husband called and said they were going to admit him to Shand's Hospital because he could have a massive heart attack!!! I immediately headed back home to check on our Yorkie to make sure she had enough food and water and while driving called his children and siblings to let them know what was going on. I can't see to drive at night, so the plan was that I would drive to my SIL's house (about 21 miles) and ride in with her, her husband and my DH's older brother and then they would drive me home later and there was enough of them to also pick up my husband's vehicle at the VA and bring it home too. When we got to Shand's they had my DH in the Emergency Intensive Care, waiting to be moved to a room in the Cardiac Care Unit, which took hours. The plan was for them to do a heart cath the next morning to see what had to be done. Well, we got good news....there is some blockage but not enough to warrant putting in stints. They feel like they can control it with medication that he will have to take for the rest of his life, which I hope is for a long, long time!!! At any rate, he was released late Thursday afternoon and so far seems to be doing fine. I think the roughest thing for him right now is that he is working on quiting smoking, which I've been trying to get him to do for years. God is good!!! Please keep him in your prayers!

Happy Birthday to my Darling!!!

My darling husband’s birthday was last week and this is the card I made for him as he is an avid golfer! I’m afraid that I totally cased Valita’s card here! I thought her design was so dang cute!!! I did not use punches, instead I designed cutting files to be used with my Pazzles Inspiration and my Craft Robo and I used black brads with “white shoe laces” as well as a Silhouette cutting file for the golf club as well as the golf cart on the inside of the card. I also do not have that sentiment stamp, so I used a Stampin' Up "Black " marker with Sue Reynold's Pen Tool in my Pazzles Inspiration to do it.

Here is a close-up as well as a view of the inside......where I mentioned that he is "so dang old"...LOL

He loved his card and had a really wonderful birthday. I bought him a new GPS Range Finder to aid his golf game. His sister, Merrylene, took us out to the Alhambra dinner theater on Friday night (August 26th) to see "Dirty Rotten Scroundrels" and we had a really lovely evening! I fixed him a steak dinner on Saturday night (his actual birthday) and Sunday (the day after his birthday) his children (my step children) had us over for dinner...so he had a very busy weekend celebrating his birthday!

It's an Elmo birthday!!!!

I designed and created this card for my friend's son, Jared!!!

Here are some close-ups of "Elmo", the card inside and the label I made for the back of the card:

One thing that I used for this card is my take on an "Action Wobble"! I made mine using some fun foam circles and some beading wire. Here is a video of Elmo dancing:

I designed and cut the little red t-shirt for Elmo and covered it with fluff and cut the letter "H" (for Huskers...Nebraska, that is!), all using my Craft Robo and my Pazzles Inspiration Studio Pro software. I cut all of the panels for the card using my Pazzles Inspiration. I decided to use "googly eyes" on the "Elmo" paper piecing. A another really good friend of mine gifted me with the Tim Holtz Sizzix "Bricked and Woodgrain" embossing folders and this is the first time I've used them....love them! Thanks Sue! I also designed the "Jared You Rock!" using my PI Studio Pro software, and the "Cooper Black".....the "Happy Birthday" is a Silhouette Studio file and both were cut using my Craft Robo.

This is my very 1st Envelope Card!

My SIL"s (the one that was in the really bad accident where she lost her husband) birthday was yesterday and I had to come up with something really special for her and here it is:

My inspiration for this card came from a wonderful card maker at Splitcoast Stampers, named Cathleen....I often get my inspiration from her. You can see her card here and she has a link there to a tutorial. For those of you that might be a member of the MTC Forum, they had a challenge for these and "CaseysAngel" (Christy) has made this video (YouTube) showing how to make them. My SIL loves gardenias, so I made a couple just for this card and wanted them to be the main focal point. The butterfly was designed by me in the Pazzles Inspiration Pro software and I used Funtime 2009 to cut it out with my Craft Robo. I also cut all of the leaves with my Craft Robo using some Silhouette cutting files. The tiny white flowers were cut using my new Martha Stewart "Hydrangea" craft punch. The sentiment was computer generated. Thanks for stopping by for a visit and by the way Merrylene loved her card!!!

Rockin Birthday card for my 9 yr old grandson, Aidan!

My grandson will be 9 on Monday, if fact he and my oldest son (his uncle) have the very same birthday! Aidan is into soccer and the guitar and music in general so I decided to use those interests in the theme of my card design. For the background I used an image I found online and then I found an image of a "rocker dude" and I used Photoshop to remove the head and add my grandson's head instead.

For the inside of the card, I decided to keep it very simple and went with a "soccer frame" (Silhouette cutting file)! I sure hope he likes it!!!

My friend Sue (aka/HotPaws) is so sweet.............she is always sending me goodies that she finds that she knows I will like or maybe something she has two of in her "stash"! You know...."care packages"!!! At any rate, she just recently send a bunch of embossing folder and I made this card to thank her and I just talked to her and she loved it and the little poodle stamp that I sent her!

All of the elements on this card, with the exception of the the pearls, "double arched" mat and the ovals, were designed and/or cut using my Craft Robo! The smallest butterfly, Leaf Corner and white leaves are Silhouette cutting files. The large butterfly was designed by me. The flowers were designed by Teri Frank. This card by Selma at Selma's Stamping Corner was my inspiration. If you've never been to Selma's blog, you should stop by for a visit and check out all of her gorgeous creations!

but my oldest son loves humorous cards so I had to change my ways! LOL I actually got the idea for this by surfing the web. There are no stamps involved. The dog, hat, and dog bowl with food are images I gathered from the internet and turned into what's called "print and cut" images using my Pazzles Inspiration Studio Pro 2010 software. They were cut using my Craft Robo and my Funtime Deluxe 2009 software. I also want to mention that that dog looks a lot like my youngest son's dog that is a mix of English Bulldog and Pit and his name is "Biscuit"! I designed the "308" candle myself as well as the flames. My son is going to be 44 which in dog years would be 308. Here's the front of the card:

Like I said, it's not the best card I've ever made, but it will make him laugh and that's all that's important!

I designed some great "designer paper"

using my Craft Robo, part of a Silhouette file called "Sketch Flowers_C00036_27011" and my black "Silhouette Sketch Pen". By the way, I absolutely love the Silhouette Sketch Pens....they work so great! At any rate, I think my designer paper looks as good as any designer paper I've purchased from the craft stores! On the three largest flowers and the stamped sentiment I also added some "Black Diamond" Stickles. To finish it off I added some satin ribbon and a bow and some half pearls.....very simple but elegant!

For the inside of the card I decided to use the black cardstock and a white gel pen to make a frame to tie it all together. There is space in the center to add my personal sentiments!

The possibilities are endless for creating our own original "designer papers". I hope you enjoyed this and I look forward to hearing your comments. Thanks for stopping by!

I finally got my friend's husband's birthday card finished and I have to say the "Man" cards are very difficult to design!!! Here's a photo of the front of the card:

The "pick-up truck" and "money bags" were images I located through Google Images and I turned it into a "Print and Cut" files with my Funtime software and then cut using my Craft Robo (they are now called Silhouettes) and it does a fantastic job of doing print and cuts due to its "optical eye"! The sentiment was done in the Funtime software and I used the "Briquet" font and designed a mat to mount it on...all cut using my Craft Robo. Now, here is a photo of the upper inside of the card:

Saul is on his way to becoming a professional poker player, so I found another image using Google Images of a table full of guys playing "blackjack"...............BUT Saul does not play blackjact, he plays "Texas Hold Em", so I used Photoshop to erase the blackjack items and I used a photo of Saul to add his "head" on the guy in the center with the pink shirt and I also added a BUNCH of chips in front of him! The other two guys with "real" photos of their heads are pro pokes players Daniel Negreanu (green plaid shirt) and Phil Hellmuth (blue shirt on the right). My friend says that Saul is absolutely going to love this!!!! I designed and cut the circle frame using my Funtime software and Craft Robo digital cutter.

I put this card in the mail today and can't wait to hear how Saul liked it..........his birthday is next week! Thanks for stopping by to see my finished project!!!

My Craft Robo is an old original with the blue lid............BUT "she" (Roberta to be exact) still does an outstanding job on print and cuts as well as intricate cuts!!! Here are some examples, using a project I am working on right now. This is a card that I'm designing for my friend's husband's birthday next week....I will be posting the entire card when I get it finished....this is just for examples!

So, as you can see Roberta does an outstanding job. Back when I bought her, I paid $300 but now you can purchase a Silhouette SD (Silhouette, Craft Robo and Wishblade are now all Silhouette) for as low as $159 if you shop around and it's well worth it if you like to do print and cuts and in my opinion it's well worth it just to be able to do such small intricate cuts. I have the best of both worlds as I also own a Pazzles Inspiration Creative Cutter, which will take care of large cuts and thicker media!

my good and faithful old Craft Robo and some very nice Silhouette digital cutting files. Next Saturday is my best crafting friends Mother's birthday and I wanted to make a special card for Patricia and this is what I came up with!

The only items on the card that were not cut using my Craft Robo (I call her "Roberta") was the tiny butterflies and the beaded oval that I used on the inside of the card.

I particularly love the tiny bluebird sitting on the fence. Can you believe how well my "Roberta" cut out those tiny little legs and feet? And just look at that fence..........it's just amazing!

I only used two different papers. The cream card stock is some that I purchased from Walmart years ago...can't remember who makes it and the lovely blue is a piece of Wausau Paper. I used my VersaMark "Watermark" and some "Star Dust Transparent" embossing powder on some of the blue paper which really changed the color and I like the contrast. Here it is, my "poodleliscious" birthday card!!!!!

My good friend Sue (better known in the crafting world as "HotPaws") celebrated her birthday last week and just happened to be at CHA, so she did not receive my birthday card until she got back home yesterday. That is why I'm am just now getting this posted to my blog. Sue is a dog lover, particularly poodles.........she has an adorable one named "Kiki", thus I decided to use a poodle on her card. I have an Imaginisce "Poodle" stamp, but I wanted the poodle to be a paper piecing, plus a larger size so I used that stamp as my inspiration to design a poodle paper piecing using my Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter" Pro software. I used some "Sparkly Fluff" on the "poofy" parts of the poodle, in fact, it was part of a gift from Sue last year, and I loved how it turned out! I used this card, by Cheryl, better known as "cher2008" at Splitcoast Stampers) for my inspiration to make this "funky fold card". I LOVE her card!!! At any rate, here is my version for Sue's birthday:

All of the decorative borders were done using my Pen Tool and a PaperMate EraserMate pen with my Pazzles Inspiration. The ink stays wet, so you are able to add embossing powder and heat set.

I used the same embossed borders for the inside of the card and designed a frame for the sentiment which was done using Microsoft Word and when I printed it on my Canon Inkjet I used a high resolution setting so that I could emboss the text using some clear embossing powder and heat set it. I just love her creations! You can see the one I've cased here. My sister-in-law's (Lillian) birthday is coming up February 25th and I decided this card would be the perfect one for her. She is my husband's baby sister and we have a really great relationship!

Here is the front view of my version of Elly's card....you will notice that I did not use a sentiment on the card front because I think it would detract from the beauty of Elly's design (please click on the photo to see an enlargement with all of the tiny details):

While check this out......my new way of adding antennas to butterflies. The butterfly punch that I used is small so I used tiny pieces of beading wire with some liquid pearls at the tips and let them dry on my craft mat! What do ya think? Another thing I want to point out is that I made an outline mat for the small Spellbinders "Fleur De Lis" die that I used for the centerpiece. The leaves and flowers were cut using my Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter". The leaves were a free SVG download from MTCSCAL e-files. If you have a digital cutting machine and have never visited his site, you should...........it's wonderful!

Wonderful Gift Box!!!!!!

I found the idea for this gift box here and if you check out her entire blog, Elly does some absolutely beautiful work!!! I set about making a cutting file for this project so that my Pazzles Inspiration Creative Cutter would do all of the cutting for me, which is always nice! The only thing that was not done using my PI was the Spellbinders Labels Two and the Martha Stewart "Eyelet Lace" punched border. The "dahlia" flower is from a template I purchased from "Fred She Said" (you can find it here) and I even set it up for my PI to cut all of them out for me! Something else that I want to point out is that I've used some silk wallcovering samples from Lowe's in the making of this box and............I LOVE it!!!

Turkey Centerpiece!!!

Isn't this little turkey the most adorable thing you've seen in ages?!!!! As you all know I have, and love, a Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter" and that's what I used to make this project. Klo Oxford has free Pazzles classes live and online on Sunday evening and Tuesday afternoons and this past Sunday this was what she covered in our class. If you are a member of the Pazzles Craft Room this project is a FREE download. At her class she got permission from Pazzles to give all of us that attended the class all the files for this project free, rather we were a member or not!

This year we will be having Thanksgiving dinner at our middle granddaughter's (she's almost 26) house and I made this to use as the centerpiece as there will be a number of young children there and I know they will enjoy it! I hope each and every one of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration!!!

I've been making "Tissue Box Covers"!!!!

Hello everyone!!! Every Wednesday Splitcoast Stampers sends me the "SCS Weekly Inkling" and last Wednesday the tutorial in it was for a "Tissue Box Cover" (#232) and I decided to make several of them because I loved the idea!

The 1st one I made has a Tuscan flair and I made it for my SIL, Merrylene. Here are three views of it:

Just recently I had purchased some Tim Holtz "Grunge Paper" from Michaels and I decided to use some of it in my design for this box. I used it for the "Lotus Pendant" and for the trim around the box lid...I inked it with some Distress Ink and I now LOVE grunge paper!!!

For his, I used some K&Company "Collegiate" stickers that I've had in my stash for ages. I used a Cuttlebug "Tiny Bubbles" embossing folder and some Tim Holtz "Black Soot" Distress Ink to make the lid look like a football! Papers used for this one as Bazzill and some that CS that I bought from Wally World years ago!

The next one I made is for my other SIL, Lillian and she wanted hers to be peach and green. Here are three different views of it:

My youngest son acquired some wall paper sample books for me some time back and for this cover I decided to use a plaid and a floral wallpaper sample in it!

Hello everyone!!! I finally got some time for crafting this week. Unfortunately, we've had a lot going on with our family. We found out on August 12th that my husband's middle child (Janice is 46) has lung cancer. She is now taking chemo once a week and radiation everyday during the week with the weekends off. Please be sure and keep Janice in your prayers! Also during this time my youngest son (Chad..age 36) had a really bad intestinal infection and lost a lot weight. He had cancer (Wilms Tumor) when he was 3 1/2 years old............so this really scared me. He is better now...thank God!

This past Sunday, I attended one of Klo Oxford's online classes for the Pazzles Inspiration Creative Cutter (last year I served on their design team) and she presented a toolbox template designed by Wendy @ Poppy Hill Designs (you can find her here). Wendy was kind enough to give those of us that attended the class the cutter files for it...thanks Wendy! Here is what I came up with....my craft room is mostly black, white and grey:

And here is a photo of inside. I added some strips of self adhesive magnetic tape to add weight and stability. For the handle on top, I used another one of the Spellbinders "Fancy Tags". Thanks for looking.....I just love my little toolbox!!!

and the only excuse that I have is that I've been staying totally busy spending a lot of time with my DH. We're both retired and love to play cards and we also recently purchased a Wii and we enjoy the bowling and playing golf. I bought the Wii Fit too, but I've not been using it like I should. In the past few years I've spent lots of time in my craft room and very little with my husband......I need to hit a happy medium!!!LOL Note: Ok, it's several days later (today is actually July 13th) and Teri has received her card and it's OK for me to post this now!LOL

This is a birthday card that I just completed for one of my wonderful cyber friends and even though I'm posting this now, I will not be able to show it here on my blog until she receives it! I totally fell in love with and cased this card that I saw at Splitcoast Stampers recently. I used the same Anna Griffin DP and the same Martha Stewart border punch, but changed the ribbon treatment and stamps.

I custom designed and cut the envelope for it using my Pazzles Inspiration software and cutting machine and included a liner using the same Anna Griffin DP. One thing I do want to add here is that if you haven't tried "Scor-Tape", you don't know what you're missing....that stuff is wonderful!!!!

50th Wedding Anniversary Card..............

Just recently my sister-in-law (the one that lost her husband and almost her own life in a horrible auto accident last year) asked me if I would make a 50th anniversary card for some dear friends of hers and of course I said that I would be happy to! The wife used to be a client of mine and is a friend also. I got to thinking of the Splitcoast Featured Stamper Challenge for the week of May 15th when Cathleen (aka/ctorina) was the featured stamper and back in April she had made a card that I thought was absolutely stunning...but then I think all of her work is stunning!!! You can see the card I'm referring to here and I decided to use it for my inspiration. When you case a card of a "featured stamper" you are to change at least 2 or more things on it and I changed a lot more than 2 and one of the ones that I changed was the "orientation". Here is a photo of the front of the card that I made:

This is my card for this week's Splitcoast Stampers "Sketch Challenge" (SC272) and if you want to play too you can find all the pertinent info here! The reason I said "fabricated" is that I used some beautiful fabric that I found at a new quilting store in my area on Tuesday....naturally I could not resist buying a piece of it!!! I adhered it to a piece of cereal box that I cut using my Pazzles Inspiration Creative Cutter and then ran through my Xyron machine. The absolutely gorgeous 100% silk ribbon that I used came from Sharon Johnson at "No Time to Stamp" and if you would like to purchase some from her, you can find it here. I hate to admit it, but I bought my first order from her about a year ago and I've been hording it and I just ordered some more from her a couple of weeks ago and I'm going to start using it more often. It's so great to work with and it looks stunning!!!! For the "medallion" I used a corner punch by Martha Stewart and Becca's (Amazing Paper Grace) technique.

Now, to the butterfly and you can get a better, larger view of it by clicking on my photo above. A dear friend of mine sent me this birthday card for my birthday in 2008 with some beautiful butterflies on it that were from a stamp set she has. I used them as a model for one I designed to cut and emboss using my Pazzles Inspiration and the Pen Tool that Sue Reynolds, aka/HotPaws designed that will hold many different sizes of pens. I cut two layers and used fun foam to "elevate" the wing tips. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!!!

Splitcoast's "Featured Stamper" Challenge

Barbara Anders (aka "Bar") was the "Featured Stamper" at the Splitcoast "Featured Stamper Challenge" (FS157 - Raise the Bar!) yesterday and I chose this card from her gallery! You can also check out her blog and leave her a comment for some blog candy here. I thought her card was so lovely and could not believe that it only received 2 comments! For the challenge we are supposed to change a least two things..... I changed many more but stuck with card layout that she used. If anyone would be interested in taking on this challenge, you can find it here!

The flowers that I used are some that I bought from Michaels and the leaves I used with them are some that I cut and paper sculpted years ago for a quilling project. I paper sculpted the flowers too and then added a couple of colors to the centers for some contrast.

Well, as you can tell by my lack of activity here at my blog, I've been in a bit of a creative slump and I have to thank a very nice lady by the name of Velta for encouraging me to get back to work! The other day, I had stopped by her blog as I do frequently and I was so impressed by a card she had just posted (you can see it here at her blog) that I left her the following comment:

"Oh Velta, this is so beautiful!!!! I've kind of been going through a creative slump lately and this is just the inspiration I need to snap out of it...thank you!!!"

Well, she visited here at my blog and left the following comment:

"Oh MY Pam ~ I have been through your blog and your talent is amazing. All of your creations are so elegant...just what I like! Thank you for stopping by and commenting on my blog! It is hard for me to understand (other than the holidays) with your talent how you could be in a slump...Get on out here girl and get to work...I want to see more of your art!!!"

After reading her comment, I happened across a link to the Flourishes Newsletter and the first item I saw was "What's Your Cup of Tea? Challenge!" Well, to be honest I found that interesting and decided to take the challenge and make a Valentine card for my husband. My morning beverage is "Starbucks Breakfast Blend" and I went from there. Now, mind you this is not the best card I've ever designed, but my DH does not like "fluffy, girly" stuff, so I tried to keep it simple. Here is a photo showing the Starbucks bag along side of the card I designed:

This adorable little snail was a freebie from doodlepalace.com. I actually altered the image by cutting of the tail, changing the envelope sentiment, replacing the antennae with wire ones and adding the eyelashes. I colored the image using markers by Neopiko.

I also want to point out that the paper piercing that I did on this card (the sun rays) was done using my new "Piercing Tool" for the Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter". The needle that I used in it was not quite large enough, so I used a manual piercing tool to make the piercings larger....I need to go to Hobby Lobby and purchase a larger sewing machine needle!

I guess everyone thinks that I left the country, but I've really just been so busy with family and preparing for the holidays that I've not had much time for crafting! One thing that my husband and I have been doing is spending lots of time with his siblings. He lost a brother and a sister during the past three years and as I posted here on my blog, we almost lost another sister who was in a horrible auto accident this past March (she lost her husband, our brother-in-law) in that same accident. We now get together (my husband, his oldest brother and two of his three younger sisters) at least once a week....we have dinner together and then play cards and we have a blast. I will always treasure these times!!! Hopefully, once the holiday season is over I will have a lot more time for my crafting!!!

I did make some luminaries to give as little Christmas gifts. I have photos of a couple of them...in all I have made five! Happy Birthday Klo!!!

I designed and created this very special birthday card for my friend and teacher Klo, who has taught me so much about the Pazzles Inspiration software for my Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter". Her birthday is the 13th, so I'm not going to post this to my blog until Saturday, the 14th. Another very good friend and fellow Pazzles Design Team Member, Sue Reynolds, just recently designed a new Pen Tool that can be used with my Inspiration, that can hold many different sized pens and for this card, I used her pen tool with a Quickie Glue Pen to made the "lattice" panel. After I removed the panel from my Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter" I covered the "lattice" lines with silver embossing powder and heat set it with my "Heat It" craft tool. I also used the same technique for make the silver lines around the bottom card panel...I wanted it to have the look of "peel-off" stickers, so I'm going to call it "Faux Peel Offs". In addition I used the very same technique for the "sentiment" and the "46", but I added some crystal stickles to the "46". I topped it all off with a bow made with my Bow Easy....love that little tool!!!

For the inside of the card, I used my "faux peel-offs" technique again around the bottom panel.

Here is a close-up of the top inside panel, where I used the smaller "Fluer de lis" pendant die and then some Nestie circles and topped it off with a real "Peel-Off" sticker of a gift:

And here is a close-up of the lower inside panel showing the way I embossed my text onto a vellum square. I did the text in Photoshop using the beautiful "CAC Lasko Even Weight" font (free), printed it out using my Canan PIXMA 530 inkjet's "Photo Paper" setting and just as quickly as I took it out of the printed, I covered it with clear embossing powder to that it would be embossed. The text was done in black but after covering it with the clear EB powder and heat setting it, it almost looks silver!!! Also, the silver trim around it is actually "peel-off" stickers, as well as the "~2009~"!

This was a lot of fun to design and create and I hope Klo really liked it! Thanks for coming by to check it out!!!

My niece's birthday was October 17th and this is the card that I made for her and I purposely did not upload here to my blog after I finished it, because I was afraid she might stop by and see it...anyway, that's why I forgot! So here it is now!!!

I had just bought the Spellbinders "Fleur De Lis" set a day before I made this card and of course, I could not wait to use it! The design of this card is extremely simple...what makes the card so pretty is the combination of the "Fleur De Lis" set, the gorgeous sparkling papers and the beautiful Swarvoski crystals!!!

Double Embossing or Blank Embossing was the technique for today's challenge (TLC245) at Splitcoast Stampers......you can check out all of the details here at the site. Lynn sent us to a video by Nilda at "The Cuttlebug Spot" and earlier this morning the video was not working, but it is now. Once I watched Nilda's video this technique was a lot easier and I really had fun with it!!! Click on the photo below for a close-up of it:

There were a lot of "firsts" with this card.............first time I've used this technique, first time I've used this embossing folder, first time I've used these stamps, first time I've used my new Memento "Rich Cocoa" ink pad and the first time I've made my own "ribbon corners"!!! For all of my coloring, I used glitter and metallic pens. I also designed a Pazzles cutting file for the matching, lined envelope and I used the same embossing folder on the envelope too. Booooo!!!!!

I'm not positive, but this may well be the first time I've made a Halloween card! Today for the "Limited Supply Challenge" (LSC241) we were supposed to do a "FALL-themed" card with stamps, paper and ink.....NO embellishments! It was alright to use diecuts, but the focal point should be something STAMPED. If you would like to join in the fun, you can find all the pertinent information here! For mine I used this adorable "mummy" stamp by Recollections, cut him out and used black fun foam pieces to adhere him with dimension. I also used a stamp for the "sentiment and I colored the pumpkin on it with some Neopiko markers. All of the background was done using die cut files from Pazzles and they were cut with my Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter" and my Craft Robo. For the creepy spider, I used some clear embossing powder and heat set it to give her a shiny, black widow look! Don't you just love that haunted looking house with the orange moon? I'm sure my little grandsons will love this!

Playing with my new SU "Petals-a-Plenty"!!!

Last week I placed my very first order of Stampin'Up products and they arrived later yesterday afternoon, so of course I had to play with one of them today! I've seen many cards done using the "Petals-a-Plenty Textured Impressions" embossing folder and I decided to order it. I also used the Splitcoast Stampers Wednesday Sketch Challenge (SC249) as my inspiration. If you want to play along you can find it here. As you can see by my photos, these images were very difficult to capture. They look much better IRL (in real life), particularly the beautiful snowflake.

Here is a close-up of the snowflake:

I cut two blue panels and ran them through my Big Shot using the Stampin'Up "Petals-a-Plenty" embossing folder. On the first blue layer I used the debossed side and brushed over the top of it with my Brilliance "Platinum Planet" and then used a silver glitter pen on the circles in the middle of each flower. I did the very same thing on the top blue panel and the top white panel, but I used the embossed side! The gorgeous snowflake is actually from the letter "E" of the font called "Faux Snowflake BRK" and was cut out using my Craft Robo digital cutter. I used white card stock that was stamped with the "Platiunum Planet" then covered with "Star Dust" embossing powder and heat set with my heat gun...did this twice and then added a flat-backed pearl! The "faux stitching" on the horizontal blue panel was actually done using the silver glitter pen in the Pen Tool on my Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter".

I have to say that I LOVE my new Stampin'Up embossing folders (I also ordered the "Elegant Bouquet" and the "Finial Press")...you will seeing lots of cards made by me using them!!!

Well, I don't know if I have them spelled right, but I've been watching some of the "Create and Craft TV" shows at their website in the UK and the other day one of the guests was demoing cards using the negative and the positive of cut outs. I'm probably wording this all wrong and I can't remember which guest it was, but I decided to play with the idea using my Craft Robo "Print and Cut" feature and I see all kinds of possibilities!!! I found this vintage image by doing a Google search of images that are Public Domain and I thought it would make a pretty Christmas card. These were some that I made just for practice and I did the sentiment using my Pazzles "Inspiration Studio" software and the Pazzles "Alte Swabacher" font. I used a white gel pen in the Pazzles "Pen Tool" and I love the effect I got with it!!! The image was printed on my inkjet printer.

"Faux Suede" Technique

OK, so I've been playing today! I decided to do the "Technique Challenge" (TLC241) at Splitcoast Stampers and this is my first try at this technique. If you would like to play too, you can find it here! First of all, please click on the following image to get a larger view:

The wine/burgundy cardstock the I used for the "faux suede" is some that I've had in my stash for years and I'm sorry, but I don't know who made it. I actually just started out to practice with it, but when I got through preparing it, I decided it was a "keeper", so then I started selecting other papers to go with it. I chose some black cardstock and a piece of "Wild Rose" patterned paper...I thought they all looked great together! I decided to keep my color scheme to the wine/burgundy, black and white. I used the same wine/burgundy cardstock (without making it "faux suede") for the outer labels frame. For the die cut corners, I used a piece of black from the Best Occasions "Metallic Paper Pack" since the shinny look of it matched the black satin ribbon that I used. This was a fun technique and I will certainly be using it again!!!

Happy Turkey Day!!!

I have been taking it easy for about the past 10 days, after completing my last project for the Pazzles 2009 Design Team, but today I decided that I wanted to participate in the Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge (SC248). If you would like to participate, you can find it here! I decided to make mine a Thanksgiving Card!

The multi-colored "punched leaves" were punched from a paper that I designed using "alcohol inks" and the copper looking ones were punched from a paper that I designed using a metallic paint. The black decorative elements on the left side were cut using my Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter" and a cutting file from the Pazzles "Swirls & Twirls" CD. The center black "lacqured" panel was designed by me. I stamped the black CS using VersaMark and a couple of leaf stamps and then used my Perfect Pearls. I then VersaMarked the entire panel, covered with clear embossing power and heat set three times. Thanks for looking!!!

at the Pazzles company for August!!! My inspiration came from a "Try a New Technique" Challenge at Splitcoast (TLC223) called "Butterfly Box"...you can get all of the details about it here! This was announced back in September, but I'm just now getting around to posting this on my blog, as I had to keep it private until the Pazzles company made their announcement!

Quite sometime back, I had designed a "Butterfly" cutting file for the Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter" and I decided to use the butterfly to make my own butterfly box and use it for my August project. In this project we were supposed to incorporate some Ranger "Claudine Hellmuth Studio Sticky-Back Canvas". I decided to use a background paper and some leaves from a free digital scrapbooking kit named "Misty Morning" by Joni Gray. If any of you would like the kit, it is free and can be downloaded from her blog here! She has quite a few other free kits at her blog and they are all lovely! I then printed the background paper and the leaves on the canvas using my Epson R280 inkjet printer. I cut the "inner" panel on the front and back of the box out of the printed canvas using my Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter" and I also used some of the printed canvas to cover the handle that I had cut out of a cereal box (you can also use chipboard). When I adhered the canvas panels, I noted a bit of unraveling, so I cut a black border (using my Pazzles), covered it with VersaMark and then some glittered embossing powder, set it with my heat gun and adhered it to the canvas panels.....that took care of that problem! I used my original butterfly design to cut some butterflies for embellishments, added some Dew Drops and a black satin bow! For winning "Designer of the Month", I won $100 worth of product for my Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter"...I LOVE shopping!!! Here are some photos:

Today I participated in the Splitcoast Stampers "Ways to Use It" Challenge (WT234)....you can find all the details here. We were supposed to "Sand It" and I decided to use a piece of cardstock from the Core'dinations "The Whitewash Collection" which is my favorite! I embossed the cardstock and then sanded it with one of my nail buffers!

The "designer" patterned paper was printed on my brand new Epson Stylus Photo 1400 (wide format inkjet) from a digital scrapbook kit that was a free download (some time back) at ScrapArtist. The kit is by Lisa Cohen and is called "Joyful Spirit". It's a very small kit but I happen to LOVE this paper and it printed out so great using my new printer. I printed it on a piece of white cardstock (12"x12") that I've for ages (don't know the brand or the weight), and I did it "border to border" and I was amazed at how it looked..............looks just like a sheet of Basic Grey, etc. paper that I buy at the crafts stores!!! If anyone is looking for an "afordable" wide format printer, you don't want to miss out on this. Office Max is selling these babies for $199.99. My old Epson 1280 cost me $459 but does not work correctly with Vista and well....it's 8 years old and that's old for a printer!

The blue Bazzill cardstock that I used is really pretty but shows up darker in my photo and I was unable to correct it in Photoshop, but trust me it's REALLY pretty IRL!!!!

At any rate, I kept the card pretty simple and made it a "thank you" card, as I can always use them!!! Thanks for stopping by and looking!

I used a new technique today!!!

I really needed to make a "thank you" today and I decided to use the "Masked Frame" technique that was Splitcoast Stampers "Technique Lovers Challenge" (TLC236) for this past Monday! My photo looks a bit small, but if you click on it you can get an enlarged view! If you would be interested in it, you can read all about it here! All of the beautiful stamps that I used are some Inkadinkado stamps that I just recently purchased from Crafty Steals...I got like 128 stamps for $17.99!!! I also double stamped the bird to make it look like she had a shadow and I think there's a name for that technique, but I don't know what it is!

One thing that I did a little different for the technique was that I used a PaperMate Eraser Mate pen in the Pen Tool for my Pazzles Inspiration Creative Cutter to "outline" the scalloped circle as well as the inner scallop, covered with gold embossing powder and heat set it. Those pens stay wet for a bit, thus they are great for heat embossing! That was all done at the same time that I was cutting out my front layer of my card. For my mask, I made one using a scalloped circle that I had made using my Pazzles Inspiration Studio software. I cut a scalloped circle and then used the negative also. I then used my markers to color the little flowers and then used gold stickles in the centers. I have to admit that I messed up the first two attempts at this, but hey....I did not give up!!! I feel pretty sure that I will use the technique again, probably many times!

Seriously, Jerri Jimenez's (A Touch of Grace) card, here inspired me to design this card which I'm also using for yesterday's Splitcoast Stampers Limited Supplies Challenge (LS235) where we had to include at least one butterfly as well as a money card/envelope! For those of you that have not registered at Splitcoast Stampers, you really should.....the challenges are so much fun and they really get your "mojo" going!!!

I used an Anna Griffin stamp for the bottom centerpiece of my card and also used my Pazzles Inspiration Studio software to create a mat for the image which I cut using my Pazzles Inspiration. I also designed the card base, small envelope, and the butterflies using my Pazzles Inspiration Studo software and then cut them with my Pazzles Inspiration! For the centers of my butterflies I used black crushed velvet flock. In the center of the bow I affixed an "Ivory Pearl Seal" from Micheals, but before I did I painted the pearl part of it a pink color using Making Memories acrylic paint. Another little note is that I used gold wire to make the antennae for the butterflies. Here is a photo of the inside, showing the little money envelope that I made.

I embossed the "liner" of the envelope. This was a lot of fun, plus I now have a special birthday card ready to give to someone very special!!!

But...the important thing about this card is that it is for my husband's birthday, today!!!

I had been working on creating a card (in my head) for my husband for days and then yesterday when I saw the Sketch Challenge (SC243) at Splitcoast Stampers the ideas started coming! A few weeks ago I had bought three sheets of 12"x12" "specialty" papers at Hobby Lobby and I thought two of them would look great on a masculine card. They are both by the Paper Studio.....the first one is the brown "flocked" paper and it has paw prints on it. My husband is crazy about our little Yorkie ("Miss Dani") so I knew I just had to use that one. The second one is the the gorgeous "gold striped glitter" paper. I also had bought some linen samples from Paper and More and used a couple of them on the front panel. They are 84# card stock and I'm just going to have to break down and order several different packages of them. I'm afraid I was not able to pick up all the beauty of these papers in my photo, but trust me IRL (in real life) they look fantastic!!! All of the silver items on the front panel are Peel-Off stickers that were a gift from my UK Scrappers friend Cal...you can see her blog here. The "velvet looking ribbon tabs" were actually made using some suede paper that I bought years ago from a stamp store in GA that is now closed. I also used my Pazzles Inspiration and a gold pen in the Pen Tool to do the "faux stitching" on the two middle panels. It may not show in my photo, but this card is just a mass of wonderful textures and I think it really has a nice masculine look!!!

I LOVE this little frog image!!!

I'm really pleased with this card that I've made for my brother for his birthday. The frog is a digital image that I created in Photoshop CS3 from a font called "KiddyDing". I used the "w" for the frog and the "q" for the mushroom, printed it out twice and colored the image using my Copic & Neopiko markers. I also have to add that the frog was a "boy" and I turned him into a "girl" by adding the eyelashes and the red lips!!! The "sentiment" was done using my "Basic Black" Stampin Up marker in the Pazzles Inspiration Pen Tool and a Pazzles font called "Engineer"...in other words, my PI did the writing for me.....love that feature!!! The "52" was cut out of "Sequins Silver" vinyl using my Pazzles Inspiration digital cutter too. The cupcake is clipart from Graphics Factory.com. I used a Card Sketch (SC79) from Splitcoast Stampers.

I made this card today for the Splitcoast Featured Stamper Challenge (FS132) and I'm so pleased that when completed, it really took on a nice masculine look! We have a dear friend whose birthday is on the 25th and I've earmarked this for him! You can find all the details about this challenge here if you would like to play too! Here is the card that inspired me!!! She did not mention the size of this card, so I decided to make mine 4"x9.25".

The main difficulty with this project was getting a good photo of it, which happens quite often! In the previous photo, the middle "square's" stamped image can hardly be seen, so here is a close-up of it!

The stamped sentiment is hard to see in the full photo too, so here is a close-up of it too!

Mother's Day........already?????

I've actually made this card for my seven year old grandson to give to his Mom for Mother's Day 2010. That adorable little "Precious Moments" boy reminds me of him!!! I will just store this card for him until May. I'm using this card for Splitcoast Stampers Color Challenge (CC231 & you can find it here) "Don't Fade Away", where you use bleach to do your stamping and use whatever color the cardstock bleaches out to as your second color (in this case a cream color). I'm also using it for the Sketch Challenge 241 and you can find it here.

I actually used a dingbat font called "Precious Moments Love 1" (letter "L") to make a digital stamp that I then colored with a combination of my Neopiko & Copic markers. I used some Stickles in the center of the flower. I designed the striped overlay using my Pazzles "Inspiration Studio" software and then cut it on gold metallic cardstock. I have not completed to inside of the card yet, as I want my grandson's input before doing so!

PS. I just changed out the photo of this card because today (8-14-2009), I found some ribbon that kind of matches the card that I like better, so I removed the old bow and added a new one!!!

This past weekend I started working on this birthday card for a dear friend who's birthday is this month and I decided that I would use the "Precious Moments" font to do her name (Marti). I did this in Photoshop and actually decided to go ahead and color it with Photoshop as well! I actually had colored the "letters" with a lavender color but after I printed it out I did not like it and decided to go over it with a glitter pen. I discovered that I did not have a glitter pen that was the right color so I wound up using my red Beifa glitter pen....mixed with the lavender it became a really pretty reddish purple color that went well with the Wausau cardstock!!! I also used one of my Neopiko markers to color the cheeks and the Bunny's ear. Well now, here comes the "nail art"!!! While using the glitter pen I made a couple of "boo boos" and instead of starting all over I decided to use some stickers to cover my mistakes (they were really small, but to me showed up big time!) and I really did not have any that were small enough and while going through my drawer I came across some "nail art stickers" that I had purchased some time ago from Walmart and they were tiny and they worked out perfectly. I then decided that I liked them so well that I would use some on each letter and then used some at the top left of the card to "balance it out". Needless to say, I will be going by Walmart this week to see if I can find some more "nail art stickers" to stock up on!!!!

I also want to add that the tiny strips of cardstock that I used as embellishments were cut using my Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter". I love how they cut so evenly using it,, as I could never attempt to get them that even with my paper trimmer!!! The "Happy Birthday" was done using Photoshop and the "CAC Lasko Condensed" font and printed on my inkjet. Another thing that I want to mention is that in my photo the dark cardstock almost looks black but it's actually almost a purple/burgundy color called "Sparkling Merlot" and it has a beautiful golden sheen to it that I was unable to capture with my camera.

that I've had in months. I've only completed two cards, but I've got another project in the works too! I do think that maybe my "mojo" is coming home!!!! A little earlier today, I was checking out the Splitcoast Stampers "Gallery" and I came across a "hinged" card made by Wendy (aka/Wendybell @ SCS) and she has a fantastic video on how to make it...if you are interested in checking out her video, you can find it here! Well, here is my version of it and I had a blast working on it!!!

Here is a view of it opened up....I've not yet added the wording on the inside, as I will do that when I decide who I going to send it to!

The beautiful crocheted flower was made by my friend Teri's (tlfrank at SCS) mom. Teri was kind enough to send me some and I really treasure them....this is the first time I've used one of them. You know....I think I might be a "hoarder"!!! Here is a close-up of it.

Some time back I bought a "Bow Easy" from Sharon at "No Time to Stamp" blogspot. At here site she has a tutorial on how to use it and if you would like to purchase one and see her tutorial, you can see it here. I made my gingham bow using my "Bow Easy" and here is a close-up of it.

I had some very special company come to my house on July 27th........my son, his wife and my two adorable little grandsons! They were with me for almost a week and then a week ago today, they headed home, to Alabama. I miss them so much, but they sure can wear out their "Nana"! I guess I'm not as young as I sometimes think I am!!!

At any rate, while they were here Splitcoast Stampers had a "Quilling" challenge for the "Try a New Technique" (TLC231) and I had wanted to participate, but did not have time and then this week I really liked the "Card Sketches" challenge, so late last night I decided to combine the two and this is what I came up with.

The quilled butterfly and flowers were some that I had made some time back when learning how to quill and I had them in a box to use as embellishments when needed and I had actually forgotten about them. During that time I had made a quilled project that I gave to a friend as a birthday gift. Here's a photo of it....I actually put it in a "showdow box" prior to giving it to her.

When making the "Thank You" card, I decided to use some cardstock from the Core'dinations "Whitewash Collection". I am on the Pazzles Design Team and we are supposed to incorporate some of this cardstock into our projects for this month, so I figured this would be a good chance for me to play with it prior to doing that....and I love it! I used it for the two inner panels and then ran them through my Cuttlebug using the "Perfectly Paisley" embossing folder. I also used a "nail buffer" to sand them afterward. With that cardstock there is an inner core that shows through when you "sand" and in this case it was a blue color that was similar to the blue than I used in the quilled butterfly! Don't you just love that effect?!!

Hey there! I'm finally getting a chance to do today's sketch challenge (SC238) at Splitcoast....it looked like a really good one. I decided to make mine a birthday card as I have several friends and relatives that have birthdays coming up! This also gave me a chance to use some of my new "toys", like one of the Cuttlebug "Vintage" dies and the EK Success "edger punch". I also used one of my stamps that I've never used before....the tiny butterfly! I also want to point out the white flower which was cut using my Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter" and a cutting file designed by my friend Teri (aka/tlfrank at the Splitcoast Stampers site). Thanks for the file Teri!!! Most of the panels, plus the "corner" treatment (which was designed by me) for this card was cut with my "Inspiration". The sentiment was done in Photoshop, using the "TXT LongHand" font and printed on the Bazzill using my Canon PIXMA MP530. It's the first time I've used this font as I did not even know I had it and I have no idea where I got it from, but I like it!!! This was fun and I hope you like it!

back in May for her birthday. I got all my ideas for this project here! This next photo shows the box opened up. As you can see, I made a few changes, such adding an Address Book, a Note Pad and some Mailing Labels. I also glued the inner flap and added a decorative border.

Here are closeups of the Address Book and the inner pages of it and the Note Pad. I designed the inner pages using Photoshop and then did a "Print and Cut" using my Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter".

This project was fun, but it was also a lot of work, but it was worth it to be able to give it to Merrylene as a gift. By the way, she loved it!!!

A very special friend of mine had a birthday yesterday and thanks to Lynn's Splitcoast Stampers "Try a New Technique" challenge for this past Monday, I was able to come up with a design for her birthday card. If you would like to check out the challenge, which is called "Stand Up Card" (TLC228), you can find the information here. This card design was introduced by Penny Wessenauer.....thanks for a lovely design Penny!

As most of you know, I have a Pazzles "Inspiration Creative Cutter" and serve on their design team as well. The other day I was playing around with label designs.....like the Nestabilities and came up with the label that's on my card design. I used my PI to cut what I call "Next Besties" (saw this somewhere online while surfing the net) out of acrylic and then I cut larger pieces out of card stock, used double-stick tape to adhere them to the acrylic and ran them through my Cuttlebug and got the same effect that you get when using the Nestabilities, which I own quite a number of. It worked like a charm! I used my Funtime software to design the borders which I cut using my Craft Robo...it's also a digital cutter.

I want to add some notes here regarding the Canson metallic papers that I used. The "Galvanized" is silver but in my photos it kind of looks blue...sorry but this sucker was difficult to photograph. Also, the "Iced Gold", as Canson calls it, is actually like a metallic white. They are really lovely papers, but difficult to capture in a photo!

I used Photoshop to do the card's inside and the font I used is "LD Hallmark".

I just want you all to know that I was able to spend an evening with Merrylene (SIL that was in the horrible accident) this past Saturday. It had been several weeks since I had seen her because Cecil and I had both been sick with chest colds and would not take a chance of passing it on to her. I have to tell you that she is looking and feeling so much better. She actually seems like her old self and that has made our family and me so happy! She is still unable to walk as the doctors don't yet want her to put weight on the leg that was broken in the accident (compound fracture), but it's coming! Once again, I want to thank everyone for their prayers and concerns for Merrylene!!!

I also want to add here that I going to get back to my cardmaking. All along, I have been doing my projects for Pazzles, as I'm on their design team, but just about all other crafting had been pushed aside, plus my creativity went way down...................but now I'm back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to wish you all a very happy 4th of July!!!!!!!!

I have an update on Merrylene (my SIL)……….

First of all, I want to thank everyone for their prayers!!!!! Merrylene is improving and started opening her eyes this past Tuesday and started talking some on Wednesday. We were all finding it very strange that she did not ask about Tom (her DH that was killed in the accident) and I was beginning to think that she has short term memory loss, since she and Tom had just started dating a year ago and got married in October, but I just got another update from another SIL and this morning Merrylene asked her son, Harry Jr. (he was the one that introduced Merrylene and Tom) where is Tom? He immediately gathered some of her other grown children, as well as a psychiatrist to her room and informed her that Tom was dead. At first she did not believe them, as she does not have any memory of the accident!!! They finally convinced her, but I don’t think she will truly deal with this until the memory of the accident comes back to her. She is improving by small amounts each day and the family is feeling more confident that she’s going to recover from all this. I just pray that finding out that Tom is dead does not set her back!

We had Tom’s funeral this past Monday and one of her sons took some pictures in the event that she feels a need to see them. Tom’s funeral was one of the best I’ve ever attended. He was very good friends with his pastor and he’s the one that did the funeral and he told many funny stories of Tom and himself from over the years. He really helped me to celebrate Tom’s life! Tom will be missed by many people!!!

Thanks again for your concern and your prayers and please keep them coming as Merrylene still has a long road to recovery ahead of her!

I received some horrible news yesterday!!!

At around 1:15pm yesterday, I received a call from our niece saying that my husband's sister (Merrylene) had been in an accident and was at the Trauma Center in Jacksonville, FL (around an hour away). We immediately rushed to the hospital and about 30 minutes after we arrived we learned that Merrylene's husband died at the scene and Merrylene was in critical condition. I am still in shock. Merrylene and Tom just got married this past October...in fact I posted the wedding card that I made for them here on my blog! Yesterday they performed emergency exploratory surgery on her and removed her spleen as well as a piece of her colon. They could not close her up due to swelling and if the swelling has gone down enough by tomorrow afternoon, they plan on reconnecting her insides and closing the incision. She has many broken bones they have to deal with also. The doctors told us she has a long hard road ahead of her if she makes it. They have her so heavily sedated that she has a breathing tube...so it's like she's in a coma. She also does not yet know that Tom died in the accident...........it just breaks my heart. Please keep her in your prayers!!!

I made this little “Thinking of You” card for the Splitcoast Stampers Limited Supplies Challenge (LSC212) yesterday. I know that I wanted to use my new ($1.00 from Michaels) Hampton Arts “Tulips” stamp and since we were supposed to use soft colors, I decided to use watercolor paper and do a washed background using pastel colors. I had also used watercolor paper for the image, except instead of using watercolors for the image I used a technique with my Sharpies and alcohol. I colored on a ceramic tile using my Sharpies and then dipped my brush in alcohol and picked up pigment off of the ceramic tile! The sentiment was done using Photoshop CS3 and some digital brushes that I have. I used the Edwardian Script ITC font. The large lavender flower was designed by a lady (Doris the Crafter) at the UK Scrappers site and was cut using my Pazzles “Inspiration Creative Cutter”. I "paper sculpted" all of the flowers. I hope you like!

and Goo Gone. I have the OMS but I think it’s probably safer with the Goo Gone and it works just fine. I also used a paint brush with some alcohol and the ink from one of my Sharpies to add a little shadowing type background color. The image I used was not a stamp….I guess you could say that I made a digital stamp using the“Red Rose” Plate 28 in my “The Language of Flowers" Coloring Book by Dover. I just printed it using my Canon Pixma MP530 All-in-One inkjet printer and then heat set it with my heat gun. I then decided to use it to make a birthday card for my “adopted” daughter, Cathy. Her birthday is next month……..I sure hope that she will like it!

Oh, and I just have to mention this. Do you notice the beautiful designer paper? I love it……I purchased it from Michaels a few weeks ago when they had the “get 7 sheets of 12x12 paper for $1.00” sale! I wound up buying ten sheets of this particular paper for only $1.40…..WOW, what a bargain!!!

Actually, today’s Limited Supplies Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers was entitled “Go Ahead and Bug Me” and we had to make a card with any kind of a bug on it, with no more than four layers and NO patterned papers! Well, I just happened to remember this really cool bug that I had used on a digital scrapbook page that I designed four years ago, so I located the image on my Hemera Big Box of Art CD collection and tuned it into a “digital stamp” so that I could color him with my Prismas and some Goo Gone…..here you can see the scrapbook page and the darling little bug!

I also decided that since I could not use pattered paper, I would create my own background using ink pads and a cloud stencil. I designed the “picket fence” using my Pazzles “Inspiration Studio” software and then cut it out using my Pazzles “Inspiration Creative Cutter”. The “Always take time out to smell the flowers” was done using the "FreehandBT 591" font and Photoshop CS3 and then printed on my Canon Pixma MP530 All-in-One inkjet printer. In addition to using Prisma Watercolor pencils, I added the shadowing using watercolor and an aqua brush. I placed a clear Dew Drop over his eye instead of using a googly eye! I also used some iridescent paper to make an extra layer of the wings that I covered with “Crystal” Stickles.

is turning 18 tomorrow and I guess you know what that makes me? Old!!!LOL It seems like just yesterday she was a little girl sitting on my lap at my computer. How time flies! At any rate, yesterday when I was starting to design her birthday card in my head, I decided to use the sketch for the Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge (SC218) for this past Wednesday.

Some time during the past couple of weeks I had been playing with my new Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks and some gold mirror cardstock. I used some “Denim”, “Bottle” and “Silver Mixative” along with some of the blending solution and it turned out stunning on the gold cardstock……looks very marbled, but it’s extremely hard to capture using my camera. Here is a close-up that I took of some of it back on February 24th:

I used some of it for the corners, circular frame for sentiment and the ribbon buckle. For this card, I also decided to make my own “designer” paper using my “Antique Linen” Tim Holtz Distress Ink pad . The pretty lattice overlay was designed by me using my Funtime Deluxe 2009 software and then I cut it using my Craft Robo. All of the panels were cut using my Pazzles “Inspiration Creative Cutter”. The sentiment was created using Adobe Photoshop CS3 and printed onto my homemade designer paper using my Canan Pixma MP530 All-in-One inkjet printer.

Today at Splitcoast Stampers, Julia came up with the idea of “Frugal Finds” for the “Ways to Use It” Challenge. Well, what could be more frugal than FREE background paper designs? One of the blogs that I check out, almost daily, is Jak Heath’s “Crafters Kitchen” and the other day she had some lovely “Damask Papers” that she designed and offered for free download and I just fell in love with them!!! Well, not me! Had you going there for a minute, didn’t I? Seriously, my husband’s great niece is getting married on March 12th and I just found out about it about the time I was beginning to design a card for the Splitcoast Stampers “Ways to Use It” Challenge “Embellishment Pile-up”. So my card for that challenge became a Wedding Card! I loved creating this card, but it seemed to take me forever to get it all together, but now that I have, I really like it. What do you think?

I designed the “Leafy Branches” and a lady by the name of Sabrina, at the UK Stampers site, designed the lovely “white dove” and they were cut with my Pazzles “Inspiration Creative Cutter”. The flowers were designed by Teri at my Yahoo Pazzles Inspiration Group and they too were cut with my Inspiration and then I sculpted them with my embossing stylus. I also used stamps and white embossing powder to emboss the main layer (underneath the embellishments), but unless you look at the close-up, you won't be able to see it. Here is a detailed close-up of some of the embellishments. As usual, please forgive my photography skills...some of these materials that we use to make our cards are to hard to capture!!!

I decided yesterday to take on the Splitcoast Stampers Inspiration Challenge from Saturday. If you would like to do so too, please go to this link. I have had a hard time getting my creativity back on track since the holidays and my two bouts with viruses and I find these Challenges really help! I chose this card at the Elum website for my inspiration:

I did not have any designer paper that looked like the background, so I used Adobe Photoshop CS3 to make my own paper for the background and then used my printer to print it. It looks almost exactly like it, doesn’t it? I used my Funtime Deluxe 2009 software to make the banner and then cut it with my Pazzles “Inspiration Creative Cutter”. “Birthday Girl” was done using my Pen Tool that came with my “Inspiration Creative Cutter” and a Sharpie Marker.

This challenge was so much fun……I really have to get back to doing them on a regular basis!!!

I used the same pattern/design file that I designed in my Pazzles software for this one too! This is the one I’ve made for the sweet lady that comes to my house every other Wednesday and transforms it! Her name is Sharon and I also call her “my angel” and I guess I could also call her my “domestic engineer”! At any rate, she and I did not do Christmas yet as she was here last about eight days before Christmas and we decided we would do it on the Wednesday after Christmas, which is also New Year’s Eve! I have included front and back views in the photos below.

One thing that I did different this time, is that I used some suede paper for the trim, as well as the embellishments. I also used a 1 inch mirror square for the clasp and I used the “engraving tool” on my Pazzles Inspiration to engrave Sharon’s initials on the piece of mirror, which really gives it a personal touch!!! The template/pattern, all trim, reindeer and flourishes were cut using my Pazzles Inspiration.

This past week, I made this “name sign” for my newest “great granddaughter”. Her name is Taylor Marie and she was born on October 2nd. She’s actually my “step great granddaughter”, but any way you look at it, she’s mine!!! I just wanted you all to know that I’m really not quite old enough to be a “great grandmother”!LOL

I made this where it can be hung on a door or set on a pedestal. It was cut using my Pazzles Inspiration and I used the “Victorian LET” font. The brown background is Bazzill and then I actually cut “Taylor” using acrylic and then covered it with the pink and brown polka-dot paper. The large butterfly was designed by me using my Pazzles Inspiration Studio software. I tried to make it “girly”, as I have two sons and two grandsons it was really fun to do something feminine! After I punched the “tiny” flowers, I paper sculpted them.

I actually completed this card design last week and I’ve made a number of them to give to family members and close friends. I wanted to design a card that was simple and had the “true meaning of Christmas” as it’s main theme…so, what the card has to say is the main thing and this one says quite a bit as you can see by this inside view. The “praying hands” are some I found in my “Images” folder on my PC, I just printed them on my inkjet printer and then chalked around the edges. You can see a larger view of the inside of card here.

I know you’ve heard me mention my “adopted daughter” before, but for those who haven’t, here’s the story. Five years ago one of my dearest friends, Pat, died of ovarian cancer and prior to her death she told me that Cathy, her youngest child of four grown children would really need me and more or less asked me to be there for her. Well, after Pat’s death, I guess you could say that Cathy and I adopted each other!!! She even calls me “Pomma”, which is a mix of Pam and Momma. At any rate, I love her dearly and I made this purse/box to hold her Christmas present this year. I actually made this on Friday night and finished it off today with the “dear tag”. I've included a front & side view, as well as a view from the back.

I totally designed the pattern in my new Funtime 2009 software and then used my Pazzles Inspiration to cut the pieces out. The cute “dear tag” came with the software…so I can’t take credit for that design. I used a round of Velcro to close the purse flap. The lovely flourish cut-out that is on the front and back were also cut with my Pazzles, using a flourish cutting file from the Pazzles “Swirls & Twirls” CD. I so enjoyed designing and decorating this box and I only hope that Cathy likes it too!

I have a lot to tell you about………….

First of all, I finished my Pazzles Design Team Project and got in the email on Wednesday! I was anxious to play with my new software program for my Pazzles Inspiration that I received on Monday….it’s the new Funtime 2009 and I love it! Needless to say, I spent Thursday playing with it and then yesterday I pretty much spent the day designing cutter files and designing this Christmas card for my youngest son and his family.

The beautiful glittered snowflake is a design by Monica, aka/Silene at the UK Scrappers site! I designed the twig/branch file and the bells using my new software. I made the “holly” paper piecing file using clipart from the Graphics Factory. I just signed up with them for a year. You can download all kinds of neat clipart! The upper left twig was punched using my Martha Stewart punch, but the others were from my design and were cut using my Pazzles Inspiration. I used four layers of embossing powder on the snowflake. I used liquid appliqué for the red berries on the holly and then I used Glassy Accents to make them shiny. I used my computer and printer for the sentiment. This was another one of those cards that was very difficult to photograph. I used silver and gold mirror like card for the bells and that mirror card never photographs well!

Well, after being ill so much for the past two months, I now have my work cut out for me, as I’m way behind on making Christmas cards and don’t know if I will be able to catch up………but I’m going to try!!!

First of all, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! I know - I’ve been missing for a while. Well, I know you won’t believe it, but I’ve been sick…again! Almost exactly the same symptoms as last time….sore throat, headache and terrible coughing, except this time it was even worse than the last time. At any rate, I now think that I am on the mend and ready to get back to crafting which, after all, is the very best medicine!!!

Prior to getting sick, I was working on my projects for the Pazzles Design Team and got them finished right about the same time I got sick (on the 17th) and I’ve not done anything since then until this evening. I just made this card for the Splitcoast “Ways to Use It”, WT194 – “Giving Thanks”. My youngest son is the best son on the face of the Earth and I decided to dedicate this challenge to him!

Unfortunately, my photography skills were not good enough to pick up the “shimmer” of the papers I used for this card! The lacy “Thanks/Thank You” overlay was designed by me in my Pazzles Inspiration Studio software and then cut by my Pazzles (digital cutter). For the overlay, I used the following fonts: Present Script, Ballroom Tango Regular, Brody, Bean Sprout DNA, Hobo Std. and Lauren Script. Have I mentioned that “I love my Pazzles”? There are just no limits to what you can create and cut with it! I did the text using Photoshop CS3 using the "Freehand591 BT" font and then printed it using my Canon Pixma 530 inkjet printer.

Christmas Card for my Darling!

I took some time out from working on my Pazzles Design projects to make a Christmas Card for my DH and I got my inspiration from a couple of the Splitcoast Stampers challenges for this week. The first one is for the Technique Lover’s Challenge (TLC193), “Decorative Circle Medallion” and the second is for the Ways to Use It Challenge (WT191), “Cutting Corners”. I made my own background paper for the red layer by stamping and then using clear embossing powder. I cut the circle using my Pazzles Inspiration, punched it with my corner punch and then embossed it using my Cuttlebug. The green outer circle was designed and cut using my Pazzles as was the text boxes. I did the text using Photoshop CS3 using the BrockScript font and then printed it using my Epson printer and the Matte Heavyweight setting. The black and gold beads in the corners were designed and made by me!
