Pazzles "Inspiration Vue" Review & Free File Giveaway!!!

Ok y'all.......some of you know that I just recently purchased the Pazzles Vue machine and it arrived here on the 9th and as soon as I received it, I started doing test cuts, so today I going to post my results!  First off, here is a photo of my new Vue!

I call that my "Cutter Station" as I keep my Silhouette Cameo (the one that has the gorgeous black and white cover to match the decor of my craft room, that my friend Tammy made and gifted to me...love it!!!) on the upper shelf and then my new Vue on the bottom shelf.  Tammy is in the process of making me a cover for the Vue right now.

The first day, I ran some test cuts using some 65# Recollections cardstock...it is one of my favorite cardstocks to use with my cutters as in my opinion it cuts like butter!  The "Happy Birthday" is very tiny and I designed a mat to go underneath it.  I placed the quarter in the photo so that you could tell how tiny some of the test cuts were.  For the test, I set the blade at 2, pressure at 24  and speed at 4 and did one pass.  Since the "Happy Birthday" is SO intricate, I slowed the speed down to 1 and did 2 passes.  Here is the photo of that test.

The nest day I did my second batch of test cuts.  The largest heart frame was cut using some DCWV Shimmers cardstock and it too cut like butter!!! I found that image online, I think it was a free embroidery image, and I made a png out of it in Photoshop CS3, opened it in the InVue software and made me a cutting file....there is the outer frame (purple) and then an inner decorative piece (pink) and it is very intricate!  The 5" border is a file that I downloaded from the Pazzles Craft Room and downsized it to 5" and look how good it cut!!!  Someone was saying that they have trouble cutting the black Recollections 65# cardstock....but it cut perfect with the blade at 2, pressure 24 and 1 pass.

This next test cut was done on paper versus cardstock.  When you cut paper you need to use an older mat that is not so sticky and I would recommend cutting a piece of paper a little bigger than the image so that if it sticks to your mat really bad, you have not wasted an entire sheet of designer paper!  I used a piece of paper from the Recollections "Black & White Paper Pad...the little chick image is less and 2.25" tall!

One thing I want to mention here is that I am a "2 cutter person".  I also own the Silhouette Cameo and I did own the Sizzix eClips but sold it to my neighbor when I bought my Pazzles "Inspiration Vue", so I will be using my Vue and my Cameo and I feel like I have the best of both worlds!!!  I decided to do some comparisons between the two cutters and as you can see by my photo, you can hardly tell the difference!!!  For the comparison I wanted an intricate design, so I used one of my Sue Wilson die images, which I scanned and turned into a cut file.  The oval that I used was designed by me.  I noted the media that I used in red on the photo...and here it is!

Y'all, at this point I want to address doing "double cuts/2 passes/cutting twice" or whatever you want to call it.  To me doing double cuts insures that I get a good smooth cut and that is what I like!!!  Here are close-ups of the "frame" test cuts I did.  For the Cameo, I set my blade at 2, Pressure at 33 and do a double cut......for the Vue I set my blade at 2, pressure at 24, speed at 3 and did 2 passes.  So, as you can see from the photos, by doing the double cuts I got good clean, crisp, smooth cuts!!!

For my next test cuts, I got even more stoked that I already was over my new Vue!!!  Look at the cuts I got using the Recollections 110# cardstock that I normally only use for my card bases...it is HEAVY cardstock like the Gina K Pure Luxury 120# and look at how intricate these cuts are!!!  The black rose overly (from the Pazzles Craft Room) is only 5.25", which gives you an idea of how small the "congrats" is!!!  All of the black cuts were done on the 110# and the blue "congrats" was cut on 65#.  I am SO impressed...........now Michael's needs to stock some more colors of the 110# as right now they only have it in White, Ivory and Black!!!

I ran another test cut last night for a friend who has some Tina Fitch's files and wanted to see how the Vue handled them.  The pink cuts are on 65# Recollections and the black cuts are on 110# Recollections..............did fantastic!!!

So, my final verdict of the Pazzles "Inspiration Vue" is that it is a fantastic cutter and I would highly recommend it.  I will add, if you ONLY cut the thinner media, like the 65# cardstock. then the Silhouette Cameo will do the job...........but why not go for the Vue and be able to cut all of the different media!!!  I have not tested any of it yet, but I will in the near future and as I do I will post the results here on my blog!

Now, for the free file of the Garden Trellis cut file that I made and used on my last card project.

I made a "Hello" card (& a free butterfly file) using more images from..............

all-free-download.com!!!  I have a good online friend that I've never sent a card to, so I decided to make her a "hello" card and since the weather will soon be turning cold I decided to bring a little "spring time" into her life.  For the card front I found a spring frame at the "all free download" site and then after searching I found an image that matched for the inside of the card.  Here are some photos...let me know what you think!!!

The next two photos include close-ups of my "2 Layer Vellum Butterfly", which is the file that I will be giving away at the end of this post.  I used two of my Zig "Wink of Stella Brush Tip Markers" on the vellum layer.  I used the "Clear" and the "Silver".

And this is the image that I found for the inside panel that matches the "spring frame" on the card front.  All I added was some liquid pearls and I used my clear "Wink of Stella Brush Tip Marker" on some of the flowers...hard to see in my photos, but it is there!

I made my own envelope and I cut a panel to adhere to the front using some patterned paper from my DCWV "Fresh Floral Stack"....it was a plaid design and had all of my colors on it!  I also cut a liner for the envelope using the same patterned paper.  I just used 24 LB Georgia-Pacific "Premium Ink Jet & Laser Paper" for the envelope base.

I used the print and cut technique with my Silhouette "Cameo" and the font that I used was one that I've been using so much lately as I love it...."2 Peas Mr. Giggles"!!!  This card so SO much fun to make!!!

Now for the free butterfly file...you can go here to download it and I hope you enjoy it!  I included
JPG, MTC, SVG and .Studio formats, so that should about cover everyone.

Thanks for stopping by, please hurry back and please leave a comment letting me know if you liked this card!

Someone special is turning 25 (& another envelope file).......

in fact, tomorrow!  It is so hard to believe that my little niece Ashley (my youngest brother's only child) is going to be 25.........gosh, I'm getting old...LOL!!!  Here is a photo of the front of the card I designed just for her and then I will go into some of the details.

I used a border from one of the designs I've been working on, which I call my "Art Deco Shell Ensemble".  How do you like it?  I got the birthday title idea from something that I saw on Pinterest and I used the "2 Peas Mr. Giggles" font, which was introduced to me by Julie Flanagan at the Makes the Cut forum....love it!  I have to admit that when I was trying to glue the title to the white panel I goofed and had to remove it which caused some damage and since I had already adhered the delicate cut border and did not want to start over, I had to come up with a fix, so I came up with this idea!

I cut the panel with my Cameo and then used an Anna Griffin embossing folder on it and walla...you would never know that I did a huge boo boo...LOL  I also want to add that I actually cut the title twice and then glued it together to add some depth.  Here is a close-up of the title and the embossed panel.

Now, for the inside of the card!

For the "25th border", I used Kerri Bradford's "Mix+Match Series Lines & Letters" video to create it...you can view it yourself here.  I actually wound up doing the 25th border in two pieces...the black base and then the inner part of the "25th" in the pink bazzill.  The rest of the inside is actually just one panel that I created in the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition software and then printed on white bazzill and just added some pink liquid pearls.  Here is a close-up view.

I just want to add that the font I used for the message was "KG Somebody that I used to know" and for the happy birthday I used "LDT Swirls".  I hope Ashley likes her card as I am actually very pleased with how it turned out!

And now for the free envelope file....I made this to fit a 5.5x5.5 inch card and it is roomy to allow for some embellishments, but if you add too many you may have to re-size it a little.  There are score lines, but if you prefer them, you can change them to "dashed lines".  The download includes a .studio as well as an SVG format.  You can download it here.  Hope this will be useful to you!

Thanks for stopping by and now I've got to get back to work!!!

A "Belated Birthday" card.....and a "FREE" envelope file!!!

Hello everyone!!!  About ten days ago I made this card, but did not want to post it until my friend had received it.  Her birthday was back in July, but I'm afraid that my creative juices were not kicking in at that time due to my cancer and treatments and it was her big 50....so needless to say I was feeling VERY guilty and I got to thinking about the old saying, "better late than never" and that got my creative juices kicking in and this is what I came up with!  Here is a front view of the card.

And here is a view of the inside (in Photoshop I blocked out the personal message to her).

Now for some notes on the making of this card.  First of all, I want to mention that the card is 5"x7" and and in order to make a "portrait" 5x7 card I would need at least a 14" piece of cardstock which I don't have!  So, I used Becca Feeken's (Amazing Paper Grace) "Becca Bit" called "Piecing Card Bases" and I just love that concept as you can even use letter size papers if you need to.  You can find it here...just scroll down to the video tutorial.  Thank you so much for this Becca!  Now, do you see how tiny and delicate the "Belated Birthday Wishes" is?  Well, that was done using black vinyl that was cut with my Silhouette "Cameo"!!!  Needless to say, I will start using the vinyl more often for sentiments, etc. as it cuts like butter with the "Cameo"!!!  The lamp post is a really nice file from the Silhouette store that I just purchased and it is named "Vintage Hanging Shop Sign", Design ID #18385.  I only used the lamp post.  I made the actual hanging sign using one of the stamps from "Borders & Journaling Boxes" by Studio G and I made a "mat" to stamp it on using my Silhouette "Studio Designer Edition" software and the message on it was hand written by me using a while gel pen.  The "chains" holding it are made from some silver trim that I purchased from Walmart.  The banner is also a file from the Silhouette store called "banner 2"...I could not find a design number and I think maybe it was one of the free files that came with the "Cameo".  Don't you just love the patterned paper I used on it?  It came from a Recollections paper stack called "Garden Florals" and there are 240 sheets of patterned papers, 60 designs and four sheets of each.

Now....onto the "free" file.  I designed an envelope for 5x7 (A7) cards that can be cut on letter size papers....of course, if you have a piece of 12x12 paper and a cutter that will cut that size, you can use the 12x12 size papers.  Because I designed this to cut on letter size, the envelope file is five separate pieces as well as the liner.  I have a lot of paper that is letter size that I need to be using, plus for those individuals that can only cut letter size or even A4, they can make their own "large" envelopes too!  I used my file to make the envelope for this card and I want to let you know that I only cut the envelope front using the patterned paper....the other pieces (the flaps) were cut using 24# white printer paper.  If you would like the file (I included Studio as well as SVG formats), you can download it here.  Enjoy and I look forward to seeing you again soon!!!

A VERY special young lady & a FREE file...........................

turned 21 on the 7th of March!!!  Jennifer is our youngest granddaughter and I just cannot believe that she is already 21!  She is on the Dean's List at Florida State University and we are SO proud of her.  This is the card that I made for her special day.

I designed the card base using my Silhouette Studio Designer Edition software and at the end of this post I will have links to a free download of the card base if you would like it!  I used a couple of Silhouette America files, which are paid for files, so I cannot share...but if you would like them you can get them at their store.....here are the file names:     happy_birthday_card_C20091116151828_19007
                          beautiful_label_C00397_20509

The font that I used for "OMG...she's legal!", which was done with my Cameo and a Silhouette Sketch Pen is "Boris Black Bloxx" and if you Google it, you can find a free download for it!

Here is another photo showing the card with envelope.  I scanned my designer cardstock so that I could make a liner (which I cut with my Cameo) for the store bought envelope!

For the free file, just select the format that you use and you will be taken to the download.

I hope y'all can use the free file and I would love to hear your comments on this design!  Thanks for stopping by and come back soon!!!

Hey......do ya want the bug????

The "node bug" that is!!!

Today when I was reading posts at the Makes the Cut Forum, I came across a post entitled "Bug Bite" and figured someone had gotten bitten by a really bad bug and to my surprise she (Sharon, aka/daffeydil) had posted a picture of a cutting file that I had designed during one of Klo Oxford's free live classes back in November of 2010!!!  I believe the class was regarding "node editing" in the Pazzles Inspiration Studio software and some of us in the class starting joking like "well, I did not node that"...LOL  One of the gals in particular was Paula (aka/massofhair) from the UK and we still to this day get a big hoot of it.  At any rate, that's how the "Node Bug" was created!  When Klo went to the UK to do some classes there, Paula even sent me a "Node Bug ATC" she had made for me..........I still have it!  I thought maybe some of you might like the cutting file to use on maybe some kind of "get well" card or even a scrapbook layout, so I decided to share it!!!  Just click on the format you prefer to go to the download and then consider yourself "bug bit"!!!

Enjoy!

Silhouette Users........let me introduce you to Teri Frank!!!!!

I know you will be as amazed as I am at her gorgeous designs!  If you will recall, Teri designed the beautiful medallion and label that I used on the special birthday card that I posted here.  She will be sharing that one with you next and she has given me permission to share some more of her lovely files with all of you!

Here is a preview of one of her latest design efforts!

OMG...........I LOVE this ensemble and I see so many possiblities!  Great for 12" scrapbook layouts as well as resizing for 8" layouts, etc. and myself being a card maker, I see many ways I can use these.  Teri, thank you so much!!!  You can download this free "STUDIO" file here.

At this time Teri is only sharing the files in .studio format, but that may change down the road.  If you love Teri's designs, please leave some love for her in the "comments" area and I will have her go there to check them out!  Enjoy!
