Happy Birthday to my Darling Husband!!!!

Hey y'all!  My DH had a birthday this past Wednesday and I want to share the card I made for him with you....with his blessing of course!!!  This was his big "75" so I wanted it to be very special and very original!

Here is a photo of the card front.  I found the "golfer gentleman" doing a google seach.....but he was originally a she, so I did some alterations...........like getting rid of the eyelashes!!!  I colored "him" with Copics and then I found a Silhouette file of a golf cart that I colored in the Studio software and added an "88" for Cecil's favorite driver and "FSU" for his favorite football team (our youngest granddaughter graduated from there).  The "golfer gentleman" and the golf cart were both cut with my Cameo as "print and cut" images.  I did cut a separate cutting for his hair and covered it with white flocking and I added "googly eyes"...isn't he cute?  The sentiment is computer generated and I used the "AR BONNIE" font.  I also used some "Clear" Wink of Stella on some areas of the golf cart and added just a few sequins!

For the inside of the card, which is totally computer generated, I used the "AR BONNIE" font as well as the "CAC Shishoni Brush" font and added some "stitches" and a golf symbol.

I don't normally like making "male" cards but I have to say that this one was actually fun!!!  At any rate, my DH loved it and that is all that counts!!!!  Thanks for stopping by!!!

Happy Birthday Marti!!!

Marti and I have been BFFs since 1981 and her birthday was on Tuesday, the 19th and I wanted to make a VERY special card for the occasion and here is what I came up with.  I am hand delivering it, so I will add a post script to this post to let you know how she liked it!  The card is so thick that I had to design a deep card box to hold it.  I've got to tell you one thing though.....this sucker was very hard to photograph..........it looks SO much prettier in person!!!

Here is a little information concerning the front of the card.  Some time back I was playing with my Anna Griffin "Rosa" embossing folder and some 24 lb. copy paper.  I used the technique where you cover one side of the embossing folder with dye ink and run it through your machine....don't remember what that is called and I also don't remember which ink pad I used but it turned out beautiful!!!  I came across it while looking through some of my stuff and decided to glue it to a piece of 110 lb. Recollections white cardstock and use it as the base panel for my card front...my original plan was to make this an "all white" card but I quickly changed my mind when I came across this!  The next two items are ovals that I designed to be cut with my digital cutters.  In between them I cut a piece of fun foam into an oval for dimension.  I designed the "Birthday Wishes" sentiment using the "Flair Roman" font...had to a make just a few alterations.....then cut several layers using my Cameo and glued them together.  The very top layer was cut using a piece of the Silhouette "Double-sided Adhesive Sheets" that was adhered to a piece of white cardstock prior to cutting and the I used some pretty white glitter to top it off!  The bow is a "Florentine Bow" die by Tattered Lace  and the butterfly is a "Leanna Buterfly" die by Simon Says and I designed a little body that I used white flocking on, as well as one white pearl, on top of it.  The "gardenias" were made by me using a cut file that I made to use on my electronic cutters.  All of the leaves and greenery were done using Memory Box dies.  I just topped everything off with a while pearl in each corner!

For the "signature label" on the back of the card, I used part of my Spellbinders "Fancy Label Tags Four" Die D-Lites set and made a cut file to go on top where I used my my Cameo with a pen tool and a black gel pen and the "Matilde" font.  Looks kinda "royal" doesn't it?

OK now....on to the card box.  This card is so thick due to the gardenias, that I had to design a deep card box to hold it.  I used one of my ovals to decorate as well as one of my gardenias.  Here are three photos.

Happy Birthday Little Bro!!!

For yesterday's Splitcoast Stampers "Free For All" challenge, I decided to make it a birthday card for my baby brother.  For the challenge (which you can find here), we are supposed to only use one or two layers and I chose to make mine a "shaker" card.  I still think male cards are the hardest to make!!!  For the label cut-out, I used one of Bird's files...........you can find her site here and she has many beautiful files that she shares with all of us.  I used the "2 Peas Mr. Giggles" font on my card front.  After cutting out the dragonfly and "Dan!", I used VersaMark and then clear embossing power and heat set twice and then would you believe that I added a clear coat of nail polish...made them so nice and shinny!!!  Here is a photo of the card front.

For the inside I made a "stitched border" using my Cameo software plus I used a Silhouette "doodled word border file" to make the "doodled happy birthday" border and then used my black Gelly Roll pen to draw them.  I used Photoshop and the "Technical" font to do the poem and once again the "2 Peas Mr. Giggles" font for the "Happy Birthday" and then printed all on my Canon printer!  Here is a photo.

Dan's birthday is not until the 25th........but I've got his card ready to mail!  Next on my list to make is my DH's birthday card........his will be on the 27th.  That will take care of the "male" cards and then I have to make a "female" birthday card for my friend Marti...guess I'd better get busy!!!  Thanks for stopping by...............and hurry back!

Get Well Tammy!!!

My friend had surgery last Monday and I wanted to make her a "get well" card and this is what I came up with.  This is the second card I've made recently with dandelions....what can I say, I  like them as they are whimsical!!!  I found a free SVG file of a dandelion which I really liked....you can find it here!  I wanted some leaves on  it, so I added them to the file and welded.  I wanted to have like a stone wall behind the dandelion so I made one and made it so that the dandelion inlays on front of it and to make the "stones" look more "stone like", I used some of my Viva Decor "Ice" Pearl Pen on them...love the look.  On the "tips" of the dandelions I used some of my homemade silver metallic paint (made from eyeshadow).  I cut three of the dandelions and glued them together...but did not glue the flower part as it gives it a more three dimensional look.  I used some "Clear" Wink of Stella on the leaves.  I added a butterfly and a dragonfly cut from some DCWV glitter paper, scored some lines on the top and bottom, added some tiny pearls to the butterfly and scattered some sequins to look like the pieces of the dandelion scattering in the breeze!

I did the inside of the card as a "print and cut", using the LDT Wispy and Simply Glamorous fonts, some Wink of Stella on the rocks and added another butterfly to finish it off!

Let's make our own "enamel accents"!!!

No card today y'all.....instead this is going to be a "learning experience"!!!  I don't know about y'all, but I am a huge fan of "The Frugal Crafter"........a person can learn a lot from this lady, not to mention that her YouTube videos are just downright entertaining...LOL  I recently watched one of her videos where she was showing us how to make our own "enamel accents" just using cardstock and decided to give it a go last night.  You can watch her video here.  I did just as she instructed, right down to using a golf tee.........thank goodness my DH is a golfer!  For those of us with electronic cutters we can use them to cut our circles in many different sizes.  One thing that I did that she did not, was to use my stylus to get really good coverage of the VersaMark on the dots.   Here is a photo of the ones I made last night and this morning.  Please note, the bottom row are the ones that I made and all the top rows are ones that I purchased and trust me, they don't come cheap!!!

Here are some notations regarding the "red arrows" you see on my photo.  The top one is to point out that you don't want to use 3 applications of the Utee or Suze Weinberg "Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel"....two is plenty as there is so much of it that it somewhat changes the shape of the dot!  The next "red arrow" is pointing at a dot that I decided to use just regular clear embossing powder, which I did not like at all.  The next two "red arrows" are pointing to the cardstock that I used to make the accents.  The first one is the cardstock that I used to make the "grey" accents and believe it or not, that paper is actually a lilac color but after embossing it turned grey, so if you are wanting to make specific colors to match your project, you will want to test prior to making a bunch of them!!!  The red one I made turned out almost the same color and on that one it did not look shinny enough to me, so I added one coat of clear nail polish.  

At any rate, y'all go watch Lindsay's video and start making your own enamel accents....she is the one that taught me how to make mu own "metallic paints" using cheap eye shadow.  Start watching her and you will learn a lot!!!

Happy Birthday to a VERY special lady!!!

Hey y'all!!!  My very good friend Teri had a birthday yesterday and I designed a very special card just for her.....this is the kind of card that I LOVE to design!!!  Everything on this card was made by me except for the sequins.  I made the border from an online image that I found at all-free-download.com and I made a paper piecing file from an online birthday coloring page that I found online.  I designed the "Happy Birthday Teri" title using the LD Dainty Font (can be purchased at Lettering Delights).  For the background, I used a new embossing folder that I purchased from Joann's last week by Darice, called "Diagonal Stripe", on a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor paper.  I inked up a ceramic tile with some "Black Soot" and "Spun Sugar" Distress inks and threw in some of my homemade metallic silver paint, sprayed it good with water and then kept laying my embossed background on it and heat setting until I got the look that I wanted and then to top it off I used some Heidi Swapp "White Color Shine", which I really am getting addicted to!  At any rate, I love the look that I got from all that....looks a lot better IRL than it does in the photos I took!  Here are a couple of views of the front.

For the paper pieced cake, I used a layer of the pink glitter paper on top of the cake and cut the icing pieces using some Silhouette double-stick adhesive and then some white flocking and since the layer I adhered it to was pink, the white flocking made the "icing" a color that matched the card perfectly!  I designed the "51" candle and the "candle flames" to finish off the cake and then added some sequins...it's got to where I just cannot make a card without using those gorgeous Pretty Pink Posh "Sparkling Clear" sequins!  I also added some pearls made using my Viva Decor "Ice" Pearl Pen.  Here are a couple of close-up photos of the card front.

I made a "print and cut" for the inside of the card and made a matching border and used some more "Ice" pearls and some "Clear Wink of Stella".

I used a design of Teri's to make the signature label that I placed on the back of the card....love her design and have been using it a lot!!!

I used some Recollections designer paper to make the envelope using my Envelope Punch Board.  I decided it would look really cool to make a border for the inside of the envelope flap instead of a liner and I love the way it turned out!
