Sympathy Card for Peggy with my 1st foamiran flowers!!!

Hey y'all!!!  First off, I have to tell you that this card is totally "out of line",  as there are other cards that I made first and have yet to post........but I wanted to post this one as it contains some foamiran flowers that I just recently made.  "Foamiran" are very thin foam sheets that I purchased from Wild Orchid Crafts in the UK and if you want to check it out, just google "foamiran flowers" and I think you will be very surprised!  My dear friend, Peggy Dollar, lost her dear friend, Mary, to bone cancer just recently and this is the sympathy card that I designed and made for her.  I want to point out here that the script stamp I used on the "frame" was gifted to me by Peggy!

Here is the card I designed for her along with a few notes about the design.  I used some Tim Holtz Oxide inks (which I adore using) and some of the NUVO Embellishment Mousse to "smoosh" the background panel onto watercolor paper, and then I added the texture paste using a contact paper stencil that I made using my Mixed Media die.  I also used a layer of white tulle beneath the 1st layer on the frame (there are a total of three layers).  All of my flowers were made using foamiran and the small ones were made based on a video tutorial by Emilia Sieradzan (aka "Lady E"), which you can find here!

Here are some photos of the inside.  I used watercolor paper for the wonky frame and some parchment paper for my message.  I also die cut one of my dies from China to decorate the top panel of the inside.

I used the same die that I used for the two wonky frames to make the panel for the signature label.

And here is the envelope that was made using my Cameo and my own cut design!

Missy's Birthday Card!

My niece Missy (sister's oldest daughter) had a birthday the end of April and this is the birthday card that I made for her.  I cased my dear friend Peggy Dollar's card for this one......thanks Peggy!   This is one of my favorite cards that I've ever made......I just love the gorgeous pink water colored background that Peggy found online and pinned to her Pinterest Board, as it just makes this card!!!  I used punched circles of the water color paper to make the "faux pearls" in the upper left corner and I made the "segmented" parts of the butterfly's body using NUVO drops that I then colored with a Copic marker to match my card's color scheme.  I made a "backing" and a "body" for my butterfly....the backing is made out of vellum cardstock that I spattered with gold water color drops and both were cut using my Cameo  The butterfly is cut from my new Poppystamps "Dream" die

Close-up of my butterfly.

Close-up of the foliage  I used (list of dies and cut files below in the supply list).

Here is the inside....the roses are a printed graphic.

I printed the water colored background on water color paper and adhered it to the front of my envelope.

Missy loved her card and I was so happy to make it for her special day!!!  One thing that I want to point out is that this card was totally made using water color paper.  Please come back soon!!!

"Thinking of You" Card

My dear friend Marta's husband is very ill and they have called in Hospice and I made this card for her to let her know that I am thinking of her and I am here for her.  For the card front, I found a stunning beach front water color and I printed on water colored scene for my background.  I just added the stamped "thinking of you", sea birds and the light house to finish it off.  I did "ink" the edges of the two largest birds and the light house.  I used some dimensional glue to adhere the light house after shaping it with my embossing tool...did the same with the sea birds and popped them up with clear foam tape.

For the inside I printed the same background with the transparency set at 65% onto vellum cardstock and then added the message which is computer generated, printed (using a setting on my printer that lays down more ink so that it stays wet long enough to add embossing powder and then heat set) and then cut with my stitched die.

I used the same lovely beach background on the front of the envelope.

Marda really liked her card...I just hope it made her feel a little better!  Thanks for looking.

Birthday Card for my sister, Angie!

Well y'all, here is another card that I made the end March for my sister's birthday.  Some time back I had made the lovely "rose" panel for another project I was working on and changed my mind in mid-stream, but decided I would keep the panel to possibly use for another card project and just happened to come across it when starting to create Angie's card.  As soon as I saw it, visions of a birthday card started going through my mind and this is what I came up with.  The "rose image" was opened in my Silhouette Studio software and I removed the "outside of the cut file", filled the "insides" with a couple of my patterns and printed it onto Neenah white cardstock and then cut it with my stitched square die and mounted it onto a pink layer which I popped up with fun foam onto another white embossed panel, another pink layer and finally my 5.25" card base.

The inside message was computer generated in Studio, I added the lovely pink rose corner and printed it on another white cardstock panel and cut with my stitched die and placed on another pink panel.

Y'all know me.....I just had to decorate the envelope, so I stamped and heat embossed some balloons and then added some strings and bows to the balloons using my Copic "Multiliner".  Adding the "tails" to the tiny bows was an "afterthought", thus the two different photos!

Angie loved her card and I hope you did too!  See ya soon...I hope!!!

New toys and a printer review!!!

Hello everyone!!!  Today's post is going to be very different, as I want to talk to you about some new "toys" I received and purchased and about the latest version of Silhouette Studio and then in the next few days I will try to post some cards that I have recently made!

First, let's talk about the new printer that my husband gave me for Mother's Day.  It is the "Canon PIXMA TS9020 Wireless Inkjet all-in-one" and I really like it.  I tested it by printing on 80# Neenah, 110# Recollectons (that I use for my card bases), 90# Strathmore Watercolor and 140# Canson Watercolor papers and they all did great!  I have a couple of photos.

1.  The "grey" and the smaller print were both printed on the 90# watercolor paper and the pretty water colored pink flowers on 110# Recollections.

2.  The "man fishing" watercolor on 140# watercolor paper and the print of some fabric that I scanned on this printer on 80# Neenah.

I also want to point out that you can print 5x7 borderless.  Unfortunately,  my photos don't do justice to the prints...........in real life the are stunning!!!

Now, onto the physical attributes of this printer.  My older Canon is the PIXMA MX870 and I have to say that it prints every bit as good as my new one, BUT......that sucker is a horse!!!  I just love that my new one is so much smaller.  Here are some photos for comparison sake.

New printer to the left, "the horse" to the right!  See what I mean?

One of the reasons that these two printers do such a great job of printing on "heavy" media is the fact that they both have "rear" paper feeds.  Another nice feature of this printer is "Duplex printing" (front and back of each page).  I also want to point out that you can get the new one in a lovely red color as you can see in the photo below (and as you can see in the photo,  you can also print your CD's].....I got mine in white as that goes better with my craft room decor!    You can find this printer most places for $149.99 and at this time HSN has it for $149.95 and you can set it up for flex pay which is "interest free"  (DH set mine for 5 flex pays of $29.99 through them).  If you are interested in this printer, just go to YouTube and do a search...you will find all kinds of informative videos on it.  I highly recommend this printer, as it is great for paper crafters!!!

OK, now on to my next new toy, the Silhouette Cameo 3......needless to say, I am loving it!!!  I just got it a week ago and after setting it up, I decided to go ahead and update my Studio software to V4, which was just released on the 16th.  So far, so good....I am still learning, but so far I really like it.  Since I now have the Cameo 2 and the Cameo 3, I've also upgraded from Designer Edition to the Business Edition, which enables me to cut on both cutters at the same time and I understand one of the new features of an upcoming update for the Business Edition will be ability to save as an SVG .........it is worth the price of the upgrade just for that!

I am loving my new toys and the newly released Version 4.0.623  of the Silhouette Studio software!!!  Thanks for stopping by and I hope some of this information will be helpful for you.

Happy Anniversary Missy & Jeff!!!

Last month I made an anniversary card for my niece, Shelley (anniversary is Valentine's Day!) and now I have made one for her older sister, Missy.  Both of these young ladies are very dear to me!!!  Here are two different photos of the card front...I did two because on the 2nd one the silver flat pearls cast too much shadow to suit my "OCD"...LOL

Here are some photos of the inside.

It may look strange that I made the inside back panel more narrow than the front, but I did that because of the way that I did the "hinge".....here is a photo showing that.

In order to make the "hinge" like this, you need 1/2" of the back panel.  Since my card front is 5 1/2 square and I wanted to keep the "square" appearance, I made the back panel 5 1/2" x 5", so after I adhered the "hinge", I was left with a 5x5" square.  I sure hope this makes sense!  And now, here is the "signature tag".

Thanks for stopping by and please hurry back!
